40K’s Blackmane & Ghazghkull Clash In Prophecy Of The Wolf
March 16, 2020 by brennon
This weekend saw the full reveal of what we can expect from the clash between Ragnar Blackmane and Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka as Games Workshop's Psychic Awakening continues. Both of these mighty warriors of the grimdark future are going to be clashing in Warhammer 40,000's Prophecy Of The Wolf.
Start Your Own Warhammer 40,000 Army @ Store.OnTableTop
This set follows the run of starter sets which send you into the world of Warhammer 40,000 during this snapshot in the timeline. In this set, you're going to get Ragnar Blackmane and a band of Space Wolves who are rocking some specialised equipment for going behind enemy lines.
On the other side of this conflict, you've also got Ghazghkull who is rocking a big new suit of armour. He comes surrounded with some of his loyal followers as Games Workshop throw a bunch of Nobz and Meganobz into the mix as well.
Whilst those classic Orks are looking rather fun as always, it does also point out how different they look compared to the new Orks we've been seeing pop up on vehicles and now in Ghazghkull himself. It would be rather fun to see them actually go in and build up a new range of Orks for Warhammer 40,000 at some point soon.
Oh, and you will have also noticed another character in this set. Do you fancy taking your chances as Makari, Ghazghkull's faithful banner bearer? This fellow is exceptionally lucky and seems to always come out the other side of some rather death-defying scenarios.
As well as the models in the set, you'll also get yourself the scenario booklet and core rules. This will lead you through the unfolding situation right now in the grimdark future and it will get you started in the game too.
Also, it should be noted that whilst Ragnar and Ghazghkull are available in this set right now, they will be available separately later on down the line if the pattern of releases is anything to go by from Games Workshop.
Saga Of The Beast
All of this is coming to the fore because of the Saga Of The Beast book which features the clash between the Space Wolves and Orks.
Inside this book, you'll find out about a new unified Ork force in another Great Waaagh! This means that you'll be finding plenty of options for those who follow Gork & Mork plus many ways to use the power of the warp as Rune Priests in a Space Wolf army. It seems like it will really help build upon the character of both of these armies.
Are you tempted to dive in and check out more from this next step for Psychic Awakening?

Great figures is the spacewolf saying the Orks are after our toilet rolls ? Lol
There’ll be a lot of Ghazghkulls on eBay shortly. I’ll have to grab one once the price becomes less silly.
Must…Resist…Temptation…To…Buy…Ghazghkull…GAH!! Honestly, this is bringing back lots of good memories when I bought my first Assault on Black Reach set way way back. I’m not too crazy about Ragnar, but he really did need a new model, and it seems they did a decent job updating his sculpt even if his pose is a bit wonky. Let’s be honest though, this is mostly the Ghaz and Makari show, and they absolutely steal the spotlight. I don’t think anything else needs to be said, apart from “Dang it GW, give us Ghaz and Makari as their own kit so we don’t… Read more »
I liked Black Reach too – split two of them with my brother and it was quite the nice little set!
Scummy move by GW to again paywall 2 Single Minis behind a box full of crap.
They should really include printouts of all the latest rule updates with all of their boxed sets now since the game’s changed quite a bit.
