Very nice!
And I actually have a question: currently painting the Fallout Wasteland Warfare Core Set I struggle to get to some parts of the minis. Especially the belly of the mutant dogs. What’s the best way to get to those corners? Ignore them? Slice the mini off the base? Spray and pray?
If they’re preassembled on the base and you can’t easily see of get into the areas I wouldn’t bother. If you plan on washing the mini it will shade it and then you’re done. If it was a nice mini and leaving it bothered me I’d have it off the base and then pinned back on afterwards
Waiting for i to dry before showing us the next step? No here’s one i made earlier? Tsk tsk, we’ll have to confiscate your Blue Peter badge for that sir.
?
How about a sequel to this vid showing how to do other sorts of rocks, eg, desert sandstone, volcanic, etc?
Rock on … 😀
“Sorry. Because of its privacy settings, this video cannot be played here.”
Bugger.
I was pantless while filming
I’m really glad you put your pants on and released the video. Those effects are stunning.
With that black glove on its like watching Alvin Stardust doing chemistry
that’s just your jealous mind kicking in.
I love the variety of tone and colour you get with this technique but I can’t be bothered with the mess! I’ll have to stick to paint only with multiple dry brushings. Fougou bulidings are amazing though.
A brilliant terrain painting video Guy’s.
That’s a very good an natural looking stone outcrop Gerry.
Cool episode – such an effective and easy technique. You could almost say its “Sedimentary my dear Watson…”
Anyway, now I have that out of my system I’ll metamorphise to my suggestion for a future Gerry Can – how to make cloaks for minis without, maybe for Oathmark Dwarf’s for example if you happened to have a box or 2 of those knocking about….
Oh my god your pun game is off the heckin scale there!
Thanks! Am still annoyed I couldnt work in Igneous to get the whole set, but no matter how much i thought about it I just granite do it. It would have been marbe-ous if i had done though!
*marble-ous
@ludicryan is definitely having too much fun doing these. Personal fave “oh no a bee!”
This looks fabulous. How about something similar for bricks? I’ve a diorama I’m building that’s a modern-day street scene. Of course the walls are going to get a daub of graffiti, but getting the bricks to look right first would be good!
I believe I have some brickwork I can do that on. Bear with me
Woohoo! I’ve half a dozen freshly printed open-lock wall sections that are boring resin-grey. Spraying them brown and dry brushing red just isn’t going to do them justice. I’m waiting with baited breath. Seriously.
Love theses effects, simple but just work!
Sadly been in the slightly advanced… 3 colour grey! corner for a while, mainly for the speed of getting stuff on the table. Will have to go back over it in the future as time permits and “dust” off those pieces again 😉
What an inspirational tutorial. I can’t wait to break out my pigments and have a go on my next stone terrain bits. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome Gerry. I’ve been meaning to pick up some pigments I think you may have just convinced me I need them.
