The Op Bring Together Munchkin & Critical Role This Year
March 9, 2020 by brennon
The team at The Op Games are going to bringing the world of Critical Role to the tabletop as they weave it into the tabletop giant that is Munchkin. It seems like Critical Role is cementing itself into geek culture even more over the coming months.
The game is going to have you playing as famous characters from the Critical Role line-up as they try and get to level ten by killing monsters, looting treasure and occasionally backstabbing people for good measure. The Mighty Nein campaign is going to be the focus of this particular release so the second campaign which is currently running on Twitch each Thursday night.
So, if you've ever wanted to tackle Lorenzo and Avantika in your own way and give them a piece of your mind then you will be able to do so when the game releases in the near future. The set comes with...
- 6x Playable Character Role Cards
- 168x Door & Treasure Cards
- 6x Plastic Trackers
- 1x d20 Die
- Rules
...so you'd imagine that you're going to have a selection of neat heroes to play as plus a d20 to keep with the theme. Also, if you're not full on Critical Role goodness there are also going to be a pair of puzzles (yes, puzzles) coming out later this year too.
Watch this space as I will probably end up buying this!

Am I the only person that does not like the munchkin game?
I don’t particularly ‘like’ the game anymore but I do understand it’s place in geek culture and it’s still a nice way to get folks playing tabletop games. I played it for years and years and have loads of expansions so for that reason I wouldn’t boo anyone for enjoying it heh (not that you have, just to be clear as this is the internet)
Yeah, I’m not a fan of Munchkin either. Ben is right about it being a decent gateway game for people coming into tabletop games though.
But I’ll quickly leave it behind for others.
ill get one of the muchkin games in the future.
