Tengu Flap Into Warlord Games’ Warlords Of Erehwon
March 2, 2020 by brennon
Warlord Games has shown off a new release for the world of Warlords Of Erehwon. This time around they are building on their Samurai force with the Tengu Birdmen who are fluttering down onto the battlefield.
The armies of the Samurai in Warlords Of Erehwon can, like any other force, bring some mythical beasts to the tabletop to fight alongside their heaving ranks. The Tengu give you a strange and eldritch addition to your force, a band of skirmishing warriors that can take advantage of their ability to fly to make their way to areas of the battlefield that need their attention.
These particular takes on the Tengu have been garbed in the fashion of Yamabushi (mountain-dwelling ascetic hermits -believed to possess supernatural powers according to Warlord) and they have that strange almost uncanny look to them where they are not quite like either man nor bird.
The rules for the Tengu Birdmen have been added to the Warlord Games website so if you're interested in using them in your games, you can check out how they'd fit into your force before you snag them up.
What do you make of these Tengu creatures?

Definitely an interesting set of character’s
Chicken nuggets in the making XD
Watch out for your nuggets my friend. These might end up being the things that do the frying (flying? Japanese has a notorious l/r pronunciation issue).
The long nose yamabushi style is pretty damn good to keep with ukiyo-e woodblock prints . A special, more anthropomorphic, tengu was sculpted for the L5R minicrate from Privateer Press and it reminded me of the Corax from the World of Darkness rpgs. Its fun to see this interpretation.
