The Dark Angels Go Hunting In Forge World’s Horus Heresy
February 28, 2020 by brennon
Forge World has been building up the Dark Angels for use in The Horus Heresy over the past few weeks. Recently there has been the release of the Dark Angels Legion Inner Circle Knights Cenobium who are all looking very mean...
Here is the background for this particular unit...
"The Cenobites of the Orders Militant are among the finest warriors of the First Legion, and each bears the most potent secrets and powerful weapons gathered by the Dark Angels over their many long years of battle. The Cenobites of the Inner Circle are called upon when that knowledge is the key by which the Legion might unlock victory in the most terrible of battlefields and most dire of campaigns. It is by the edge of their well-honed blades that the Dark Angels have conquered enemies beyond count."
I think these are some very awesome looking Space Marines who really start to step into the realm of good guys who have got an edge of the bad to them. This is also the kind of awesome meld of Sci-Fi and Fantasy that I like about Warhammer 40,000 effectively condensed into one unit. I like the look of the helmeted warriors but the leader of the unit without the facemask still rocks.
Fire & Brimstone
As well as the might Cenobites we also have the Dark Angels Legion Interemptor Squad.
Make sure to check out the background for this unit too...
"Even among the brethren of the infamous Dreadwing, the Interemptors are a grim breed, dedicated as they are to a singular purpose – the utter annihilation of the enemy. Armed with fearsome plasma burners and plasma incinerators, when the Interemptors attack they leave behind no trace of those they conquer – no bodies, no ruins, nothing."
Armed with some seriously deadly looking plasma burners and plasma incinerators, these warriors are all about making sure that the heretics are absolutely decimated. I love the idea that you would only know that these Dark Angels had done their bloody work by the scorch marks all over the walls.
These kits are pretty darn pricey but they could be awesome for those diving in and starting a Dark Angel force in The Horus Heresy.
Are you tempted by these new model kits?

very nice and the Cenobites look brilliant.
Absolutely love these! Need to figure out how I can use them in 40k though. The Plasma guys are an easy fit but the Cataphractii in 40K don’t have options for swords.
You could always fudge the rules using a mix of the basic Cataphractii rules and Deathwing Knights.
You’ve actually landed exactly along the same lines I was thinking. If I treated the Swords as Maces for stats and just said their extra thick relic armour gave them the 3+ Invun that the shields normally do. I only play casual games with my brother and he wouldn’t care as long as I was consistent.
There you go!
I was toying around with the idea of creating some MKIII-based Hellblasters a while ago, but I wasn’t sure how I’d be able to convey that using basic MKIIIs and standard Horus Heresy plasma guns. I think I just found the answer!
These look awesome.
Very nice models. I do really like the 30k range
