Wot!?! The weekend already? Can’t get used to this…
Crawling into your ear hole early
You’ve been hanging out with Warren a wee bit too long…
Happy Weekend!
I cannot wait to get my hands on the Guardians of the Galaxy for ‘Marvel Crisis Protocol’. Though I have to admit I’m getting a bit…worried about their distribution of Affiliations. With Star Lord, we now have 4 “hero” affiliations (Avengers, Wakanda, Asgard and Guardians) and then 1 “villain” affiliation (Cabal) and should be getting a “Black Order” affiliation with Thanos. I know the game isn’t designed to be strictly a ‘Hero vs. Villain’ type of game, but it would be nice to have gotten maybe an A.I.M affiliation with M.O.D.O.K or Masters of Evil with Baron Zemo. But that… Read more »
I agree. the affiliations is how I think they should be aligned but have to admit….for a campaign; being able to use anyyone is real nice….too bad there was not a mechanic to “take control of another person”,,,,,either through hypnosis or mind control.. . talk about twists but can you trust a villain….
I think for me its more about just being able to have more variety with leaders.
that is weird … you’d think that for a game that has affiliations as a feature there’d be a wider selection for pure good & evil teams. Especially given that the source material is bound to have groups of villains that (try to) work together.
The way the game is designed, affiliation is achieved if more than 50% of your tabled squad is of that particular affiliation. So a team of Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Venom, and Ultron would meet the requirements for everyone to use Cap’s Avenger Leadership, though Venom and Ultron wouldn’t benefit from any Tactic Cards that say “Avenger Characters” because they aren’t listed as Avengers.
An all evil team has only ever one set of ‘evil’ tactics cards so their strategy is revealed as soon as the 3rd team member in a 5 man team is known.
An all good guy team has the option to choose between two sets of tactics cards, provided one of them has two (good) affilliations. So you even if you know all 5 team members the strategy is unknown until that part is revealed.
That kind of gives more options for good guys, unless a 100% affilliation is always preferred despite the minimal requirement.
Woohoo some 6mm love and the mini’s I painted and gave to Lloyd to prove 6mm looks cool are featured ?
I will say that painting WH Epic is in no way easy for said 6mm scale. I am amazed at the high end paint that some sites have put up for various pieces and bow out with “We’re not worthy” a la Gerry’s wayback motion.
Haven’t watched yet but 6mm is not difficult
Certainly depends what you’re used to I think
People tend to over think it and try for too much detail. Same for 2,10 and 15mm as well in my opinion
Thanks for the show. See you al on Sunday.
The phalanx was equipped with a much long spear than is portrayed in 300 so when you had 25 men deep that produced a staggered array of spears. As the spears were so long the had a weight at the end to stabilise the spear and allow the user to keep the spear level.
Yeah it was a pretty nasty hedgehog! I love seeing the phalanx working in Rome Total War etc
depends on the phalanx, the Greeks originally had a spear around 8-9 feet, by the macedonian it had come close to 18 foot long.
I have backed most of Mythics games. Steam Watchers looks interesting but not ready to back until I see some play throughs.
We will have some videos for you soon showing off how to play
Leo is REALLY into the moment at 1:07:10. Just look at how wide his eyes get and how far his fluffy hair sways as the perfect foil to Justin’s cueball, lol. Its always a good time when he gets caught up in the passion of a game. Another good show to catch and mull over the cost of a 3D printer versus building up the quality of my airbrush kit. A Harder & Steenbeck might be the next upgrade in the future should my Sotar 20/20 fail me. So far none of my brushes have and I will see them… Read more »
You cannot deny their passion for their projects for sure haha
At 33:45. Warren you put a parody in my head that I haven’t been able to shake.
“Don’t break my heart,
my achy breaky heart.
Please join the Cult of Games today.”
I’m also now sold on a 3D Printer after seeing the Elven Tower you made. So pretty!
Fantasy Thermopylae: I’d have thought Greenskins or Ratmen would make for a better replacement for the Persians because they have the horde theme going for them and would probably be more likely to use the various beasts you’re after @warzan plus it would allow you to transfer the battle from a coastal pass to an underground tunnel (I’m thinking one of the large Underways that dwarves in fantasy setting tend to have that are sort of like underground motorways connecting the various holds). Also, you keep saying Spartans, but keep in mind that there were other Greeks at the battle… Read more »
Re: interlocking tiles – @warzan wouldn’t work for other tile systems, but for the Alamo setup how about not worrying about getting the paint job to match and instead tipping a bag of sand out into that courtyard? I don’t mean gluing sand down for texture but instead laying it down loose. Would be a pain to tidy up when you’re packing away but could be a useful way of covering up the seams while still making use of the ineterlocking tiles and making use of the fact that the walls would contain the sand so you don’t have to… Read more »
Like the idea of tipping in a bag of sand, but you are wrong about it being a pain to tidy up…. Hoover (other brands of vacuum cleaner are available)
I was thinking more along the lines of the inevitable few loose grains that you won’t be able to pick up and will linger around for years; only thing more tenacious would be glitter. ?
stretch tights over the end of the hoover tube and you can suck it up and then switch off and reuse it 😀
On the 3D printing front, one thing I don’t think I heard you mention was the ease of modularity it has. Take the siege tower for example; if you wanted one with more levels then you just have to print more copies of the middle levels whereas if it was a kit (eg the old GW one), you’d have to buy an entire extra kit or two and would be left with a bunch of stuff left over. Good to see that prints retain the quality of detail when you go down a scale; like Warren I’ve been drawn to… Read more »
Damn you all for Forsaken the Chosen Amiga..you should be ashamed!
All hail the Commodore GOD
MOM do lovely stuff. I want those Dwarf Golems for elementals!
They would be very cool indeed. I love their Kaldrin & Drek (Gotrek & Felix)
In the show you talk about the amount of filament left over. How do you know that you have enough filament left and what do you do white the leftovers when you don’t print in another scale
I’ll poke @warzan and @dignity to answer, it’s something about not being as good as buying metal and resin miniatures I think ^^
The ancient fantasy mix is what I like to play.
What we do is use the Field of Glory rulesystem and use fantasy miniatures.
We just look for an ancient/medieval army in the army books that have the same kind of mix of weapons as the fantasy army. It works great and means that you don’t have to have those specific ancient armies to play in that time period.
Sword and Spear fantasy works quite well also
Orkz… the best! GIVE THEM TO ME!
please? 😉
Great stuff as usual!!
Trying to determine realistic investment for 3D printing (not shabby end result but not commercial grade either). Spectrum seems to run the full gamut…
Still loving the new format. And who doesn’t like an Ork!
Happy weekend!
Great show as always!
My favourite addition to the show has for sure been Gerry Can! Love it!
Back to trying to get back into doing some hobby for me…
Nice 3D printing segment
I like all the new things you guys are trying! Keep mixing it up. Keeps the show fresh!
Blue Stuff, from HeinsenbergStuffWorld? Looking at your back wall I see a few classic boxes. Assuming they aren’t empty some classic playthought videos ending with a Nostalgia vs reality review & comparrison to modern alternatives could be fun if you ever need extra content. Possibly even some unboxings mixed with a little history (Please explain the Space Crusade Dreadnaughts). I was hoping you would do more Reichbusters content around now. We get all the content and therfore hype and excitement during a kickstarter and it all fades away before the stuff arrives. It would be good to see a company… Read more »
afternoon all
Orks for free? yes please, go on you know you want to pick me
Mister Boombasta very fantastic.
Good show guys.Thanks
