@limburger – I’ve watched all of Rebels and all of Clone Wars, except the new season that has just started on Disney+.

Clone Troopers were programmed to kill Jedi.

During the time of the Empire the Inquisitors and Darth Vader were in charge of hunting down those few Jedi left after Order 66.  I don’t know if the Imperial Stormtroopers were programmed in such a away.  I don’t think anything much has covered the transition from the Republic to the Empire.

My guesses are that the Clone Troopers were either:

A) short lived as a part of their accelerated growth and whatever natural lifespan of the species they were cloned from – I don’t think Jango Fett was a Mandalorian. Or

B) done away with by the Stormtroopers in a similar way that Hitler got the Black Shirts to kill the Brown Shirts during the Night of the Long Knives.

And the First Order Stormtroopers are different again.  I don’t know what indoctrination they had received but it is an interesting point.  And I don’t think anyone alive during the Clone Wars would be alive during this time frame.  What historical records exist, in whatever form, from that period – anyone’s guess – I haven’t read all of the books.  I know Leia was partially ostracised once it got out that she was Vader’s daughter – I have the book, just haven’t got to read it yet.

From memory it is Poe that convinces the Resistance to put some trust in Finn before the destruction of Starkiller Base.  And since he was a major player in that, they welcomed him with open arms.

Nothing has been thrown out since Disney said what was in and out of canon.

This group just wanted a place in Star Wars history that no one had covered yet, so that they weren’t going to interfere with the plans of other content (games, TV, movies) producers, and vice versa.

I think they want to leave the Old Republic era for possible future films or streaming series.

Part of what Disney has done is to reserve the right to reuse parts of the EU, hence Thrawn turning up in Rebels and the new book trilogies.

I think a lot of planning has gone into The High Republic, certainly more than what went into the sequel movie trilogy.  And more coordination between the writers.  If one gets stuck on something they can call on the others for advice.  That didn’t seem to happen in the movies.

I live in Dunedin, New Zealand which celebrates Chinese New Year with a fireworks display and other things.  Part of our history is a gold rush, which prompted a number of Chinese immigrants to come here.  Plus were are so close we get a lot of “investment” from Chinese “companies”.  Our tourist industry is quite dependant on people from China.

Certainly we get less British cultural influence now.  And Japan is on the rise in the geek youth through Anime and Manga.

Did you like “Rogue One”?
