Grab The Updated Blood Hunter Class & Adventure For D&D 5E
February 21, 2020 by brennon
The Blood Hunter Class for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition has been updated recently by Matthew Mercer, Dungeon Master for Critical Role. It is available over on Dungeon Master's Guild right now.
The class was designed based on a character that Mercer had to build for Vin Deisel to play as during the promotion of The Last Witch Hunter. As well as being inspired by that film it also draws plenty of parallels with the band of monster hunters from the world of The Witcher. There are a few changes here and there which make the class much more unique and it's a fascinating option for those wanting to explore a very different martial class.
"Often feared or misunderstood, and driven by an unending drive to destroy the wicked, blood hunters are clever, arcane warriors who have bound their essence to the dark creatures they hunt to better stalk and survive their prey. Armed with the rites of forbidden blood magic and a willingness to sacrifice their own vitality and humanity for the cause, they protect the realms from the shadows, ever vigilant to avoid becoming the same monsters they choose to hunt.
Harnessing the dark abilities granted by the use of hemocraft blood magic to enhance their combat prowess, these warriors hunt the wicked with blade and curse, sacrificing their own vitality to gain the upper hand and bring their quarry down.
This includes the Order of the Ghostslayer, Order of the Profane Soul, Order of the Mutant, and Order of the Lycan archetypes for the Blood Hunter class."
As I mentioned above, the pack is available for you to download for a price that you feel is appropriate but it's well researched and put together by someone who loves their D&D.
A Blood Hunter Adventure
The reason I'm talking about this fan-expansion is that Anthony Joyce has now released a two-hour adventure for a Dungeon Master and one player to get stuck into which uses the Blood Hunter as the class of choice. It's a great way to experience a bit of storytelling as a pair at the tabletop. Check out The Blood Hunter.
Here is the background to this particular adventure...
"Sit down with a friend and play a 5th-level Blood Hunter on a quest to maintain “The Balance.” Revisit Phandalin post-Lost Mines of Phandelver and aid the town by hunting down menacing werewolf. Interact with unique NPC’s and a world built exclusively for one-player to foster total immersion. Musical scores are included throughout the adventure and linked to Spotify to allow Dungeon Master’s single click access to music that creates a living atmosphere.
Inside this product, you'll find newly designed Blood Hunter mechanics to craft concoctions. Blood Hunters utilize hemocraft and corrupted alchemy to harness the essence of their slain enemies in concoctions that modify their capabilities in battle. These concoctions only work on those who have undergone the process of the Hunter’s Bane. This adventure includes 14 concoction crafting recipes!
I hope you enjoy this truly one of a kind adventure. Please take a moment to rate, review, and share this product; if it does well I plan on making a follow-on adventure."
I really like that there was time taken to dive in and create an immersive experience with not just a storyline tailored to one player but also music too! This is the kind of extra step folks appreciate. You can also preview the entire thing over on the link above before you buy so you can see if it's for you.
Art for the project was created by Gordon McAlpin and it's pretty fantastic too, really adding to the sense of epicness around the module!
Are you going to check this out because I certainly am!
