About the Project
I have pledged this year to complete 366 painted miniatures (one for each day as this is a leap year). This project will track my progress for the finished products. I am linking this to Lawnor's 2020 Hobby Pledges which you can find here: https://www.beastsofwar.com/forums/topic/hobby-pledges-2020/ This project includes some pictures of Tiny Fighting Women and Men in a state of undress. If this is likely to offend please don't look.

From small beginnings... 2/366
I’ve started with something old and something new. The new thing is an MDF Renedra wagon which came as part of my Rorke’s Drift set from Warlord. I went for a sun-bleached shades of grey look using Vallejo paints from their “Old and New Wood Effects Set” which I would certainly recommend for either sort of wood.
The flock of sheep are resin and from 1st Corps and are 28mm scale. I see them being used in lots of Ancient and Dark Age games but will add a bit of flavour to any quiet corner on the battlefield. Easy paint job with some thinned Skeleton Bone Contrast paint over a bleached bone base coat and then progressively dry brushed back up to near white on the faces and upper highlights.
Mythic Battles: Pantheon 1.5 complete 22/366
I’ve completed the miniatures that came with the MB:P 1.5 Upgrade. They were the Corinthia Box with the 15 Villagers and Winged Ape. Really basic stuff here, just block colours with a dip and mattcoat.
I prefer clear acrylic bases for these boardgame only miniatures. The board maps have distinct playing areas marked onto them and it is really handy to see as much of the board as possible even when there are lots of figures there. Bases are from Sally 4th. Cutting the figures off the old base feels a bit wrong and is a bit traumatic but so far I’ve not lost any fingures, or perhaps more importantly, any vital details from the miniatures.
I also did Dionysus and his amphora bearing associates. A bit more detail added here including some blending for the flesh on the god model and a finishing layer of gloss varnish on the pots and wine splashes. The purple colour for Dionysus comes from the box art which I was rather taken with.
Cu Chulainn 23/366
NSFW. So here is the Irish hero of legend in his classic warp spasm or riastrad. This mini is from Eureka in Australia and he isn’t in full on eye-popping Slaine mode but still looks pretty human. I went with a purple wash (Vallejo Game Ink Violet) and then layered up skintones to give him a slightly wierd look.
Celts! 72/366
Warlord’s Vercingetorix first up. I’ve already got one so this one will go on eBay as soon as I am allowed to go back to the Post Office.

Cutter's Goose and friends 79/366
Here’s one for the teenagers. Cutter’s Goose is the plane featured in Tales of the Gold Monkey which was a single pulp style TV series that appeared in 1982/3 in the wake of the first Indiana Jones movie. The plane is a Czech Models 1/48th scale Grumman Goose. It is a mixture of plastic and resin parts and was a pig to assemble, key areas don’t align and the resin parts are so fragile that many never made the final model. I did find a set of decals from Draw Decals that made the final detailing easier, but they were a pain as they were so thin that they tore at the slightest provocation. Overall I’m not sorry this one is finished.
Two of the miniatures have Flying Tiger jackets and the painted back panels came out better than I expected; I don’t do much freehand detail work.
Jaberwock and Ancient Eldar 93/366
I’m a long way behind with updates. This is partly down to struggling with the lighting rig in my photo booth. Most of these are horibly over exposed due to having the lights setup badly. Firstly a Jaberwock from Ral Partha. I thought I go for a mini painted entirely in Contrast paints. I chickened out in the end and did a drybrush and a couple of other finishing touches in regular paints but this is basically all contrasts and I’m pretty happy with the results.
Next up we have some Eldar. First the Eldar Merchant from the very first Rogue Trader release. Then some Eldar Rangers from the first Eldar release. These have been combined with some Andromedans by Reaper and the most up to date Eldar sculpt, the Ranger from Blackstone Fortress.
And everyone together.
