Games Workshop are breaking out a bunch of old miniatures again for use in Warhammer 40,000. The Ice Warriors Of Valhalla are going to be part of their Made To Order service for this coming weekend, another avenue into the world of the Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum.

This set of releases will give you a whole bunch of the classic metal miniatures, be it as part of a squad like the one above or with the aid of some heavy weapons. I always liked the look of the Ice Warriors, a band of soldiers who were fighting on one of the Death Worlds of the Imperium and tackling the bone-chilling cold. The miniatures come together into a full Valhallan Platoon which offers you the chance to snap up two of those ten-man squads, three autocannons and more.

You'll note that the set also comes with a few more character miniatures as well. That is where the likes of the Valhallan Commander come in, leading with way with plenty of brutality which befits their horrifying planet.

As well as the Command you've also got Kubrik Chenkov who is one of the named characters from the days of yore. Whilst he doesn't have any specific rules anymore because Games Workshop just like Cadians apparently, the leader of the Valhallan 18th “Tundra Wolves” Regiment would be an awesome alternative commander.

I really do miss the days when you could pick up a bunch of different metal miniatures to supplement your expanding Imperial Guard army. It would be great to see more people picking up old armies like these.

A Classic Commissar

As well as the Ice Warriors Of Valhalla we also have the epic Commissar Yarrick who is coming back to deal with the return of a certain greenskin.

Classic Commissar Yarrick - 40K

This classic looking Commissar isn't exactly the model that many folks will remember, especially when it came to the most recent Battle For Armageddon. The really weird crab-like claw certainly made sense at the time but I much preferred the look of the more up-to-date miniature.

I do think that this take on Yarrick does seem like a pretty awesome take on Warhammer 40,000 in its most grimdark sense. There are skulls everywhere, even on the holster of his gun! I love that the bolter also has a skeleton wrapped around it, hungry to spit bullets at his foes.

Are you going to be snapping these models up?
