I am pretty sure it’s an “epic scale” game due to a clue in their logo (have a closer look) given that no one really wants an epic scale warhammer game it makes sense that GW would do exactly that.

I doubt you’ll see a Mordheim game because they already have Warcry. If Forgeworld are involved then that is evidence that it’s a skirmish game though, true, but the effort they’re investing is quite high … the issue is of course if Resin models are going to be involved.

It’s a massive fail because the easiest and best route for GW is simply to produce that “Warhammer 9the Edition” and heal all wounds. Clearly Age of Sigmar was a defective rule set that was rushed out the gates and the “2nd edition” of AoS is actually a patch not a new edition.

If you scan the warscrolls of AoS it’s clear that a “rank and file” mechanic was and still is being threaded into the game but they can never decide how to facilitate this (“wholly within” as opposed to “within”; the spear rules etc. etc.).

Without a doubt (imo lol) they have a proper Age of Sigmar second edition rule set – which has quite a lot more rule mechanics – in the works. The straight forward, obvious route to take other than scrapping AoS (which they will never do despite none of their success being down to AoS, rather it has been down to Start Collecting boxed sets, easier rules, bringing out factions which are often classic Warhammer factions that could have existed in Fantasy) – but the straight forward route is to bring out  secondary “Warhammer Old World” boxed set next to Age of Sigmar 2 with both games using the new AoS rules. This means that they can use that 40+ years of Warhammer Fantasy fiction and keep it relevant, barely have to lift a finger fluff wise, heal all the wounds they created, allow everyone to use their old figures, and, more importantly, almost all the AoS miniatures are -reusable or can be used for both games (even simultaneously).

Of course they won’t, because they’re obsessed with copyright (though they can re-name the original factions.. like they did 40K, no one would care at this point).
