Grenzer Games Prepare For 15mm Imperial Roman Kickstarter
February 4, 2020 by brennon
Grenzer Games is preparing to fire up their Kickstarter for a selection of 15mm Imperial Romans in plastic. Today is the day so make sure to keep an eye on the Kickstarter link HERE.
The collection is going to be focusing on allowing you to build a pretty massive army. As you can see in the main image above, you're getting 150 miniatures in each set allowing you to bring some mighty forces together intent on conquering the Ancient world and extending the reach of Rome.
The kit is going to allow you to build an array of different characters like the Legate above but also plenty of infantry elements too. The Legionary elements, for example, are going to be armed with the likes of the gladius and the iconic pilum.
The models are going to be multi-part allowing you to really tinker with what you get in the set and build up an army which suits you specifically. All of the models are available to use with the At Lances Point rule set which has been designed by Grenzer Games but you could also bring them into all manner of other games too.
6pm will be the time to aim for so make sure you keep it in mind!
Are you tempted to dive in and pick up some of these Romans when the Kickstarter campaign goes live?

Ooh they look fabulous.
Thanks for the shout out! Only a few hours remain before the launch so follow the links in the article to the pre-launch page so you get notified we’ve gone live. We’re dead excited to bring a unique range of 15mm plastics to gaming tables around the world with this Legionary set being the tip of the iceberg.
Looking forward to seeing more of what you have to offer 🙂
I need another army project like I need a hole in the head!
I’m in
Holes are fun! 😀
they look great, but £40 per box seems too much for me, which is a real shame.
That’s 100 figures though I think
150. I don’t really buy much 15mm (just WW2) but it seems really good value.
Be interesting to see how they match with what PSC will be releasing
The ones PSC will be releasing are late antiquity, these are Early Imperials, nearly 1000 years between them… And yes, there are 150 figures in the box, which is £0.26 per figure, currently the cheapest 15mm figs on the market that i have found 😉 ~ kim
150 figures per box.
I think you should put the number of figures that a backer gets in each of the pledge levels on the right, not just the number of boxes. 1 box doesn’t necessarily sound like much, but 150 miniatures does. Don’t make me have to put in the effort to read through the page to convince myself or remind myself to pledge.
If we unlock the cavalry though, that number changes, as there are 78 cavalry in a box. And as you pledge for how many boxes you want this is the best way… I agree though that we have to highlight how many figures people get somehow
Ah, not quite so simple then. How about putting “(= 150 infantry)” for now and then changing that to “(= 150 infantry OR 78 calvary)” when the stretch goal is reached?
Figures look great.
Cheers Robert
Would anyone recommend 15 mm instead of 28 mm for systems such as Clash of Spears, Dux Britanniarum or Hail Caesar/SPQR?
I use both 15mm and 10mm for Hail Caesar, and i play several skirmish games (sci-fi) with 15mm figs, so yeah, they should work fine 😉 ~ Kim
Absolutely. After my 28mm Clash army I’m struggling with at the minute everything else will be 15mm
The renders look amazing and I hope the actual plastics will be as well! Unfortunately Ancients isn’t one of the periods I wargame at. I tend to stick with Dark Age, Medieval, WWII, and Sci-Fi. Now if only they’d make some Poles from the September Campaign or power armored space troopers, they would have all of my money!
We do plan to move into those other areas further down the line, so keep your ear the ground for news! ~ Patrick
Dark Ages and Medieval are both periods that we are producing figures for in the future ~ Kim
That’s great news! I would love to see minis for the Mongol invasions or the Teutonic wars!
in good time 😉
The base size seems strange to be honest. Would have 40×20 would be a better bet
Those bases are designed for the At Lances Point rule system but you could mount them on regular MDF bases of your choice for the game system of your choice. ALP rules will be releasing later in the timeline of figure releases so we have a range that people can use for it.
You can base them however you want, to fit whatever rules system you use. 40×30 is specific to our rules system that will be coming out later in the year ~ Kim
That’s fair enough
I’m not into Roman legions, nor historical for that matter, but these look great. I’ll be keeping an eye out for an actual miniature picture.
Thanks for the interest. If you scroll down the KS page you can see both 3D prints and some plastic tests we had done.
~ Patrick
There is a picture of a standard bearer on the KS page, it’s only a rough cast, but it still shows a ridiculous amount of detail. There is also an image of some 3D prints of our figures on there, which is an option we are looking at for special character figures, such as Caesar ~ Kim
The level of detail does look great. It would have been good to have an image of the plastic test without any black wash on, but the black wash photos still do a good job. Appreciated.
Grenzer Games have now added two new pledge levels. A £10 pledge for 1 sprue and a £25 pledge for 3 sprues. I think i’m right in writing that it’s 25 infantry on the ‘standard’ sprue.
Yep, thats exactly right 😉
