Duke Marlborough Marches To Blenheim From Warlord Games
January 30, 2020 by brennon
Warlord Games has been showing off a new diorama/vignette piece which is primed for use in Black Powder. See what you make of The Duke Of Marlborough At Blenheim which gives you a window into a moment of time.
This particular model captures the moment where, after the Battle Of Blenheim, Marlborough took the time to write home to his wife of the victory. Here is what he penned...
"August 13, 1704. I have not time to say more, but to beg you will give my duty to the Queen and let her know her army has had a glorious victory. Monsieur Talland and two other Generals are in my coach and I am following the rest: the bearer, my aide-de-camp, Colonel Parke, will give her an account of what has passed. I shall do it in a day or two, by another more at large. Marlborough.”
Warlord Games then took the famous Hillingfords painting and turned it into the miniature you see here. He is leaning on a drum in order to steady his hand whilst around him soldiers are collecting standards from the fleeing French in order to present to the Duke.
These moments in history are rather fascinating to see captured in miniature form. Seeing artwork and such is great but being able to put your brush to a model and paint up something that happened in history to display or use on the battlefield as part of a large diorama has a quality all of its own.
If you're a big fan of this period then I could see this being a nice addition to your collection...
