Steamforged Faces The Last Giant In Dark Souls Board Game
January 20, 2020 by brennon
Steamforged Games has been showing off two new expansions for Dark Souls: The Board Game. We start with The Last Giant which allows you to dive in against another big beast from this iconic world.
Here is the background to this particular encounter...
"He is the last remaining of his kind, left brutally maimed, with the swords of the fallen spitefully embedded in his stony flesh. Imprisoned and left to rot beneath a forest filled with the corpses of his brethren, he prepares for his final breath— yet the wilful and strong soul of his kind denies him rest. Do not think him weak or mistake the pitiful creature for an easy opponent, for he is neither."
If you fancy taking on a much larger and deadlier threat then this seems like a good shout. I'm not entirely sure how many people are still delving into Dark Souls on the tabletop but I do like that you get more options if this is still getting plenty of playtime.
Also, you can pick up the Phantoms Expansion towards the end of this month as well.
So, if you need some help then you need to see about picking up this set. You might either find yourself coming up against some deadly Invaders during your games or perhaps a helpful Summon who will give you aid before fading away.
"Beware the Red Phantoms, for even more than the other dire opponents you have encountered, they are not of this world. Drawn by the lure of humanity, they pass over in search of sustaining warmth, to challenge the heroic and foolish alike."
If you're a person who is really into the world of Dark Souls then I could see these being a really fun option to pick up. I do like that they have added in this integral part of the game experience into the mix and maybe it will give you the added boost you need to get playing it more.
What do you think?

That tree looks… uncomfortable…
the giant looks good is it a lava beast of some kind?
The giants in Dark Souls are more like trees. I’m not sure if this is because they are ancient and have prettified or if they’ve always been that way. The lore is somewhat esoteric!
Ooh it is a great figure but.
I thought I’d got everything through the Kickstarter but pretty sure I don’t have the giant. Is it one of the ‘straight to the shop’ expansions I vaguely remember them talking about?
I think Dark Souls is a flawed game, but with a lot to like too. I get why the flaws put people off, but I still enjoy playing it.
