Fireforge Focus On Upcoming Varangian Guard Kickstarter
January 13, 2020 by brennon
FireForge Games has been previewing what awaits as part of their next Kickstarter. The Medieval Byzantians are going to get themselves some fun new options with the Varangian Guard sitting in their midst.
It seems like they could be focusing on a new plastic kit which allows you to build these heavily armoured mercenary warriors from across Europe who served at the side of the Byzantian Emperor. They were grim and determined warriors of legend and it seems like they're going to be rocking into battle with some seriously brutal looking axes.
It will be fascinating to see what else they work on to sit alongside this set. A lot of folks have already mentioned how they would work alongside their existing Northern Kingdom army for Forgotten World if you so desired.
What do you think of the preview?

I really like those. An option for a Kingdoms of Man army for KOW.

Likewise the Saxons where also a key guard member during the crusades and probably used modified hand-me-down armor dating from the Norman invasion of England which would also look similar. Basically, armor is expensive and it gets handed down generation to generation with some modifications add to… Read more »
Nice solid looking figures.
