The Wolf Clan & A Coven Of Witches Come To GCT’s Bushido
January 6, 2020 by brennon
GCT Studios has their sights set on some fun looking options for Bushido. Leading the way you'll have the Wolf Clan to look forward to, a new band of warriors from Shiho with a twist.
GCT Studios have already been making some amazing miniatures and they are going to be taking things to the next level with this lot it seems. I love the look of these ragged warriors, clad in well-worn travelling garments and wielding swords which have never dulled despite their use in many conflicts. Also, any faction which includes wolves gets my seal of approval almost right away.
Swordsmiths & Spellweavers
As well as the Wolf Clan stalking into the world of Bushido, you'll also be able to pick up a couple of new Samurai as well.
Warriors of different styles, loyal to their clans and drawing on the spirit of the beasts of the wild are going to be holding the front line for you. Once again, GCT has done some great work on the concept art here and hopefully, all of it translates over into some stunning miniatures.
These 'Witches' of Cult Yurei are no different either. They will be raising the dead and using them for all kinds of nefarious means.
I love the way that you've got sorceresses and spellcasters of different styles here. The character on the left is almost normal looking compared to the creepy nature of both the top and right-hand characters. Once you notice more of the details in the mix as well you get that sense of the uncanny which is always fun when it comes to artwork and miniature design.
Are you tempted to dive into Bushido this year?

The artwork looks fabulous hope the figures are as good.
By my reckoning the Wolf Clan will be the 12th faction in Bushido the game. I’m concerned that they are just stretching their product range thinner and thinner with a longer tail of products to manufacture, stock and sell. It’s no wonder they’re rarely stocked in FLGS. On the plus side, their low-model count requirements and straightforward card based variations makes it quite manageable as a player/collector to cherry-pick a set of models for a faction to put on the table. Currently got three factions, if I raided my “Rise of the Kage” KS boxes could probably manage another two.… Read more »
Stoke my curiosity here as I am not familiar with a game: I do not understand the part of the range stretching thinner. Are they expanding too quickly or just whittling away at a limited resource of factions from the fluff, or is it something else? Just trying to get a bearing on it.
By thinner overall I’m mainly referring to yhe “long tail” product line effect rather than any kind of dilution. From a gameplay or player perspective this isn’t much of an issue, core rules are solid enough to handle the flexibility and variability when the details for each model are on their card; except it possibly dilutes players across more factions and makes it difficult to understand all the options you’re likely to face up front. Not an issue for me – I’m into flavour rather than meta when it comes to these things. The concern would be more from a… Read more »
Ah now I understand, thanks for explaining it to me @coxjul I get you now
That artwork is beautiful. I mean, it easily rivals anything else in the gaming (tabletop miniature, roleplaying, ccg game art) industry at the highest level. Thosee are some talented artists.
