About the Project

I’ve played and really enjoyed this game…but with unpainted miniatures. I started off thinking I’d just paint a few of these (the 4 large player pieces) and then found I couldn’t stop myself there. Oh well, Infinity and Marvel Crisis Protocol can wait.

I base colored in the flesh and any leather on the remaining minis. Hopefully tomorrow I can get a few more of these finished. I base colored in the flesh and any leather on the remaining minis. Hopefully tomorrow I can get a few more of these finished.

These pieces have absolutely no game play purpose. They are, however, pretty darn neat. These pieces have absolutely no game play purpose. They are, however, pretty darn neat.

I now believe I understand John’s pain at painting a brown horse. I now believe I understand John’s pain at painting a brown horse.

Slow as I may be I am nearing completion on the game. Only pink/maroon and yellow to go so eight minis and I've already painted their skin.Slow as I may be I am nearing completion on the game. Only pink/maroon and yellow to go so eight minis and I've already painted their skin.

I felt like the skin tones on the brown folk were a bit muddy so I’ve changed up my skin recipe for the green and I think it was worth the effort. For anyone interested, the sequence is as follows:

  • Base with Vallejo 74.004 Base Flesh
  • Wash with Vallejo 72.083 Skin Wash
  • First highlight, covering almost but not all the surface with Base Flesh
  • Highlight 1 with Vallejo 74.006 Natural Flesh
  • Highlight 2 with Vallejo 74.007 Fairy Flesh

The only change I made was to hit it with the skin wash after the base flesh. I think it ended up giving more depth to the skin tones and I’ll likely keep with it.

I’m really pleased with the whorls on the dress and hat as they add a lot more interest to the mini.

The first of four. Turns out painting maroon is a bit trickier than I had envisioned. The first of four. Turns out painting maroon is a bit trickier than I had envisioned.

Okay so they’re a bit more orange than yellow. I use like them that way. Tomorrow I’ll try to get better pictures of the council up. I actually have the blinged out servants–30 plastic minis rather than cardboard—but I think I’ll play with the cardboard tokens for awhile and move on to other things. The gang is all here–well, at least one of each color of council member is. Now to get it back to the table, this time in all of its painted glory. I'm hoping that there will be a noticeable difference. The gang is all here–well, at least one of each color of council member is.
