Mythic Battles storage Solution

OK, so now you have a metal box with 4 metal shelves in it and hundreds of plastic minis. Any theorical physicist worth their socks will tell you than plastic doesn’t stick to metal and you know what, they are right. The magnets you will need for Mythic Battles are called “N52 Neodymium Magnets 8x1mm” you can get these from Ebay and the cheapest I found were £2.10 for 50 (if you buy at least 150 which you will need anyway) that works out at just over 4p per magnet. These come from China and take about 3 weeks to arrive, so I bought 400 at a cost of £16.80 including postage. “400” you say, gasp! “that’s a lot” “yes” I reply, “you will need a lot.”

At this stage you may want to buy some different sizes for different games.
Mythic battles use (mostly) a very low side on their bases so the clearance under the base is only 1mm, that’s why you have to buy magnets that are 1mm thick or the base won’t sit on the board. I like 8mm magnets as they very versatile and can be used for lots of things.
Other games use deeper bases so if you plan on using this system for other games then you will need thicker magnets. 2mm fits Games Workshop bases best, and 3mm is used on some of the deep bases in the Nemesis game so I bought a mix all at the same time.
The idea is that when you stick the magnet to the underside of the base, the magnet gets as close to the bottom of the base as possible without lifting the base off the playing surface and giving you a wobbly model. If the Magnet is not thick enough it will be too far away from the metal and the mini won’t stick well. If the magnet is too long the mini will sit on the magnet and not the base and will wobble.
