Is the Mortal Kombat Trailer a Flawless Victory or Fatality?

It's time for you fans of fighting games to once again step into the arena of Mortal Kombat as a the announcement trailer for Mortal Kombat X has recently appeared.
The trailer features a battle between two of the series' most iconic characters; the ninjas Sub-Zero and Scorpion, in a battle to the death!
The trailer itself has been met with something of a mixed response from fans, especially in terms of its choice of rap song as a backing track. Because when you think Mortal Kombat, you immediately think rap.
The trailer also seems surprisingly plain for an announcement, which tend to focus on grand cinematics to get the hype up. However, it has been suggested that the footage is a graphically enhanced example of the gameplay, in which case I think this could be promising.
Are you ready to FIGHT?
Talk about inappropriate music. Could they have made it more jarring? Were the rights to Tiny Tim’s music unavailable? yeesh!
Agree with you there on the music! WTF!! Should of stuck with the original sound track coz that was SO retro and catchy. In fact I’m going to youtube it right now.
Interesting
The music was a terrible choice – should have been in the same rock/metal wheelhouse as previous iterations, or at least some suitable rap from a good rapper.
BoW Ben
Wow -That was probably the worst game trailer I’ve ever seen. Music SUCKED, sound effects are awful. That was bad enough to make sure I NEVER buy this game.
Yeah the music sucked – but that can be easily fixed. I’m looking forward to it, MK 9 was a fantastic game.
Music is #¤”%#&%¤/&¤%.- But I’m sure there are lots of ghetto kids who are loving the trailer.
Mortal Kombat music should be Industrial techno like in the classic games IMO, I would of done their entire soundtrack for free even.
Would HAVE and should HAVE, not would OF and should OF. You learn that in primary school dammit.
Thanks, I will remember that in the future – but I do not think the correction was necessary for the clarity of my thought. I rarely went to school due to health problems and I do not think it was necessary to bring that up to make your point either.
I found it really offputting that the two ninjas appeared to repeatedly break each others limbs, but there was absolutely no affect. It was like they have rubber limbs.
I found that too!! Very funny 😀
Too many times to the well, I’m afraid. Did absolutely nothing for me. The music is abysmally bad, and the CSI style X-ray shots of physical damage that had no effect on the characters was uninspired.
I have no trouble at all in avoiding this game.
I remember when Joe Lieberman et. al in Congress were raising a stink about violent video games, trying to establish a regulatory body over the industry (before the ESRB was founded for the specific purpose of stopping them). Mortal Kombat was one of the games (along with Splatterhouse) that they would point to as an example of going too far. I had it for the SNES at home. One day, my mom was asking about it, and I explained to her that the game was violent, but I wasn’t going to run out and start ripping people’s spines out. She… Read more »
That music is revolting. Vomitous. Wretched. Odious. Repellant. Sucks the sweat off a dead man’s b***z. And it’s not a rap thing. I own lots of Dre, Snoop, and old Death Row. This is just horrid. And what’s with the x-ray bone-crunching? Bad enough when they put this in movies and TV shows. Like we won’t know what’s happening? To be fair, they also do it with cars sometimes (giving us the “gas-eye” view into the cylinder) and guns (“bullet-eye” view spinning down the barrel). But seriously, are we that dumb? What was wrong with the old themes? The music… Read more »
Yeah rap..yeah…not fitting nor my thing.
And is this a movie or a game, i got the idea this was a gametrailer, not very clear to me.
I’ve plagiarized a sports anchor here inthe US who turned “mortal kombat” into a verb.
“That Jadgpanther strait mortal kombated that Cromwell.”
FINISH HIM!!
@amphibious monster – epic. 🙂
Savage. In a good way obviously.
The music was completely wrong for the trailer.
Fatality!
Is this for a movie or a game?
In either case, the music doesn’t fit the theme…
If it was for a movie, I think it captured the game visual style well.
It seems to be referencing the “epic rap battles of history” series from youtube.
