V&V’s New Varangian Palace Guard Watch The Emperor

V&V Miniatures has now released their new resin 28mm models for those who want to head off to Byzantium and earn their fortune as one of the Varangian Guard. Check out these four new models available as part of a set.

This set gives you a young and dashing looking Harald Hardrada who spent quite a bit of time serving as part of the Varangian Guard and making a name for himself. He is then joined by three of his kinsmen from Scandinavia, armed with some deadly looking axes and big round shields. It is given that Lloyd has already placed an order...

The models are looking really cool and should be a lot of fun to paint up. You can go that little extra mile with the Varangian Guard as they were a bit more decorated than your standard run-of-the-mill soldier. Those cloaks are crying out to be painted up in a very lavish style too, perhaps with a bit of freehand work around the hems.
