Antediluvian Miniatures has added another set of Spearmen into the mix for their War Of The Bruce's collection. This set gives you another band of grizzled folk from the North with spears at the ready to stop a charge by the enemy in its tracks.

War Of The Bruces Spearmen #3 - Antediluvian Miniatures

These models are great for those that want to get stuck into the Medieval period and fight out the clashes between the Scottish and the English. This is the period that I like the most in terms of aesthetics where everything is a bit heavier, grimier and dirty. All of the soldiers and even their leaders feel a bit more brutal and dangerous and it was a fascinating time of backstabbing, betrayal and people valiantly fighting to carve out just a little bit of freedom.

These models join a growing range of figures, all of which have been sculpted very well indeed. There's so much animation and dynamism in the sculpts and they have been designed to look like they are in the midst of a battle rather than idly waiting or watching from the sidelines.

I think it would be great to see some big games played out using these models on the tabletop. Fluttering banners, mud and snow on the battlefield and plenty of blood for extra measure. Anything that allows you to let the Dürer Galloglass off the chain is good in my book!

It is well worth going to explore more of the Antediluvian range to see what else they have for you to check out. It will most likely do what it has done to me and make me consider delving in and playing out something Medieval on the tabletop.

What do you make of the models and this time period?
