Day 21 of my journey around the world of 1938 A Very British Civil War and today it is the turn of the Scottish Republic and its leader. Admiral Douglas-Buccleah was a veteran of the Battle of Jutland in the Great War and despite his senior years, he has proved to be an able warrior for the Scottish Republic, leading her forces and organising her defends.

As leader of the Nation Unity Party, leads an assembly of various parties as it is the largest party in the Scottish Assemble, but it needs partnerships to maintain a working majority. His exploits early in 1938 in the Severn Valery and the long march through Wales to the coast had become legend for the nation. As leader of the ruling coalition Douglas-Buccleah became Admiral, First Consul to the Scottish Republic, a title chosen over Prime Minister or First Minister leading his opponents to christen him the Scottish Napoleon.
