There is the term “complications” in watchmaking for the amount of function that a timepiece has. It might be just as complicated to try and make up a fez code like this.

It sounds like a cool idea but who would be able to read anything on a fez that is covered in cogs? (That just makes me think of adding a crank to turn, have them all spin and have the tune “Pop Goes the Weasel”… yes, complicated))
