Victrix Miniatures Unboxing: Vikings
November 22, 2019 by avernos
Gerry is here to talk you through the Vikings set from Victrix.
From their Warriors of the Dark Age range there are a grand total of 60 vikings in this set in which there are a wide variety of options to assemble them. However, Gerry did have to spend a rather long time deciphering the assembly instructions which may be quite headache inducing.
What game would you like to run these vikings in?

You are more polite about the mail on these models than I would be. There are too many nicer metal Vikings out there from Artizan, Footsore and Saxon Miniatures (that Warlord now sell) that I’d prefer to invest my money and time in than these, even though 60 minis for the price is good value.
Those instructions… O_O
Another pet peeve of mine is that those minis have integrated bases. I like to base my minis with their feet directly on thin steel disks, so I’d have to go and detach 60 pairs of feet.
It’s a lot of minis for the price. I’ve no gripes about the mail, etc. but am also glad I’ve gone with mostly Footsore for my Vikings
It’s controversial but I think those vikings look amazing I mean sure you could punch someone through the gap between those mail links but it doesn’t bother me none, maybe I’m just laid back about it.
Vikings @ just over 50p each, I will have some of those, Bag me up an army.
Looks a great box after you’ve solved the da vinci code instructions.
The inner masochist in me would like nothing better than to clip all though bits from the sprues and spending the next month trying to see how many i could assemble LoL. The inner sadist would just make 60 corpses out of them.
🙂
I always enjoy the results I get from Victrix kits and they reward the patience you put in with some superb minis. At 60 in a single box there are enough for a very decent variety of Saga units or bigger units for more mass combat focussed rules. I do wish other providers would try to match both their quality and price.
Good value for money and some very old school packaging.
Very nice minis, though i’ve probably got enough vikings already. How is the size of them? I got some victrix celts and they dwarf the ones i have from warlord/wargames factory?
I had the same experience with early Imperial Romans…Victrix lads made Warlord legionaries look like dwarves…the detail is splendid. Same loopy assembly for the Germanic tribesmen, but two 32 man warbands for Hail Caesar and with just a little effort, each warrior different BEFORE primer and paint…but except for some of the great metal Warlord leader sculpts, they towered over my Warlord Germanics and the Dark Age warriors (unarmored spearmen) from Gripping Beast. A lot more detail than either, especially GB
Great review. Instructions look “interesting”. Miniatures look decent.
60 minis of that quality is a bit of a steal in my opinion. The instructions are a dogs dinner but 60 angry little men packed with detail is decent like.
Look ok. However the list of numbers and having to find them on the sprue would do my head in. But then again if the price is right.
