Antediluvian Miniatures Scottish Knights Have Got Off Their High Horse
November 15, 2019 by avernos
Antediluvian Miniatures have been showing off more of Matthew Bickley's amazing work on their 14th century Scots and this time around it's the first of a set of dismounted knights.
The set will be the first of Antediluvian Miniatures Knights on foot, with mounted versions on the way also, and these four have dismounted to form the resolute Scottish Shiltron.
My favourite has got to the the one above with a round visored basinet raised to make sure he can accurately strike home. There's no point in harming an expensive horse when you can kill the englishman on top and claim it for your own after all.
Each of the sculpts is unique and beautifully realised, the layers of armour differentiated by small touches, greaves on one man and none on another, the addition of discs of plate tied to the mail at their elbows to protect them. Truly stunning work.
This halfway house of a period between the mail shirts of the early middle ages and the full plate of the high middle ages offers a unique opportunity for painters with textures and materials intermingling and changing, and for the gamer these will happily grace many a historic table, from the beginning of the Hundred Years War, to the War of the Three Kings and of course the Wars of Independence they'll slot in happily with a lot of manufacturers work. They could of course also grace a fantasy table without any issue, so the only real question is what will you use them for?
That stood against him,
Proud Edward's Army,
And sent him homeward

To think again!!!!!
Gorgeous minis.
Not a period I collect but oh my they’ve done a great job on these.
The third figure reminds me of the Bruce in the braveheart movie. they all look great but
How fantastic!
These are not only beautiful but so accurate, it pleases me greatly to see minis so well researched.
wait until you see the english bowmen from Claymore Castings 😉
Oh I saw them. I tried to leave a comment but it was too hard to type with just one hand.
they do make some great minis picked up some gallowglass which are on the shelf to paint, great minis.
That’s how I became aware of them when they got the gallowglass from claymore
Really cool scuplts. Some great kits on their site. I’m liking the pulp fantasy stuff and the demons.
I’ve been looking for a good pike line for years, and now I’ve finally found it. I’ll need a few hundred of these.
WoW. I really like those! ??
