Boss! Wez gotz a new wartrack!
Today I had a parcel waiting form me. From Bruce @rayzryr from ‘stralia. Wohooooo! I’m so glad man. Now (apart from the fort) the box is “complete” and the res-tau-rashun can begin! 😉
Missing parts?
So I’m missing a few smaller parts. Especially the barrels have gone missing. These aren’t so hard to get but there is a little thing I always wanted to try and actually have already gotten around buying.
Silicone casting. The shapes are simple enough that they would make an excellent practice target.
WARNING: recasting for the purpose of selling recasts is illegal. Don’t mess with other peoples intellectual property.
So I build a little box, put the barrels in and mixed up the silicone.
I left this to cure for almost 24h since the bottom (the top side in the picture above) was still sticky a long time. But when everything was cured the barrels came out easy and the mould looks good.
The first (and second and third) pour on the other hand…. not so much. I’m having a real hard time getting all the air out of the moulds. Even with a vibration tool to shake all the air some air always seems to be trapped. No matter if I smush the resin is with a brush first or only to partial pours and vibration treatment… maybe it’s just the shape of the recesses that go around the barrels that don’t lend themselves to being cast easy.
Well, I now have enough “barrels” to call it a day and will move on to the next part. 😉
Start here
So I bought this box of Gorkamorka used 20’ish years ago of of flea-bay. And boy was it a mixed bag. As far as I remember the seller sold it as “complete”.
Guess what? Wasn’t true at all. Not even close.
What was in the box:
- Rule book (english)
- The other book (german)
- Quick start rules (german)
- 3 reference sheets (german)
- Almost enough markers for two boxes
- 4 turning thingies
- 12 Orks
- Dice and measuring sticks
What was not in the box:
- half of the terrain
- fort
And then there should have been two wartraks (the half-track bikes) and two wartruks. But what the seller did was cut and mash together all the parts. I barely was able to reconstruct one wartrak and save one wartruk. I still have the one abomination that is left over but it’s not in the pictures… it’s bad. And even the one “saved” wartruk is in bad shape. I really wasn’t any good at the hobby back then and I hope I can do better with what I know now.
Still contemplating on whether I should strip all minis or just keep on painting where I left of… years ago… Well, we’ll see what will happen, when I’m done with the missing terrain pieces.
