Games Workshop Put Together New Daemonic Paint Sets

Games Workshop have also been working hard on the hobby side of things as well it seems. See what you think of the addition of these new Paint Sets to their painting section of the website. All of these are up for pre-order now...
I quite like that they've revamped the image of the Golden Daemon for these sets and used his likeness when they put together the packaging - it's quite a nice touch I think. Working things out with a friend we think you're actually once again saving money by buying one of these sets although that was based on a few quick calculations.
This might be a good one stop shop if you're looking for a definitive set of paints from their range but I think a lot of people use a mix of different companies nowadays. I know that I flit from Citadel to P3 when I'm painting as I think some of their paints do different jobs well.
If you very much enjoy your Citadel paints however then this might be for you.

Nothing against the citadel paints, but this would have been done better with colour collections – by colour or army, rather than by type of paint – aside from the basic and hobby set due to the nature of their painting system. I know the idea is you end up buying them all but seems churlish to have a paint system to make the process easy and then isolating the paints that form the means to paint one colour under said system

Those are more of one click bundles that specific discounted/packaged products – but are definitely the route I feel is best for this.
An hommage to their old paint sets from the 90’s, no doubt… too bad they closed the Eavy Metal fb page !

Indeed, they where good sets – but then it wasn’t a paint system them. Still got a couple of colours from those set – still alive and kicking particularly the orc brown which I still use on occasion.
Was disappointed with their closing of the Eavy Metal page. It’s almost like they go out of their way to alienate their customers. Thankfully the Eavier Metal fan page has risen from the ashes 🙂
Yeah, I suspect the number of non-GW models making an appearance was a factor. Because anyone on the net is clearly unaware of other miniature companies
Had to giggle when I saw on the site that you get to pick it up in store for FREE! Please dont tell me GW have started to charge entry into stores now, a bit like the public toilets at the train stations, hehe.
These may be good for new painters but most painters’ only need to renew pots they use more they will probably sell more paint with deals like bye five get one free for instance.
Well pricing, internet ignorance ectr ectr aside.
They managed to take something old, well loved and remembered from the veterans relaunch it modernized and in touch with present day.
The art is also clever, humorous and inspired.
Its a rare day at this age you will hear a good word from me about GW…….
How I wished they did this with all their products.
These boxes are really meant as starters or gifts.
When a parent looking for a gift is unsure which army their offspring is playing or even which game (though that is much easier to guess these days), you can always sell them some paints. It’s almost like a box of chocolates!
…and like many gift chocolates, it may end up gathering dust in the cupboard or being passed on to someone else…
Does anyone else not think that the box art is friggin creepy as hell?
