Jervis Johnson Talks Warhammer 40,000 Psychic Phases!

Jervis Johnson is back to talk about the new Psychic Phase in Warhammer 40,000. We've all seen some of the snippets of this but it's good to hear him chatting about it and seeing some of the new artwork that's going to be in the book. If you'd like to see the second video we posted that over on our Facebook page...
It all sounds very interesting and a mirror to the Warhammer Fantasy Magic Phase essentially with a few tweaks. A lot more 'powers' appear to be available to the Psykers but I'm glad that the opponent gets more of a chance to stop them too. Nothing worse than continually failing to Deny the Witch and being pounded turn after turn with Psychic Powers.
I might be summoning a fair few Daemons to the tabletop too. I do like this new tree of powers!
Do you like the sound of the Psychic Phase?

Yes, sounds cool to me.
Very much a wait and see, but sounds cool enough.
From a fluff perspective, I’m having a lot of trouble getting my head around the idea of the new psychic Daemonolgy powers being used by anyone outside Chaos. Daemons are the mortal enemies of all the other races. Eldar summoning Deamons of Slaanesh? – what so that after the battle they can dine on their soul crystals? Dark Eldar are constantly on the run from them, are they going to invite them in? Necrons would have nothing to do with the realm of chaos, Orks perhaps could summon deamons of Mork (or is it Gork) – but I’ve never read… Read more »
Can anyone else remember when GW originally dropped the psychic phase from 40k? When a certain some one gave the reason,’..we want the rules of 40k to be significantly different to WHFB. 40k is not just WHFB in space .Having a ‘psychic phase’ in 40k, that is so similar to WHFB magic phase, runs counter to this goal..’ I bet this will increase the sales of deamon minatures though. Along with other recent changes like unbound ,flyers, allies, fortifications , escalation etc. It appears some one is prioritizing short term sales over actual game play . I shall watch with… Read more »
This is another nail in the coffin for Sisters aka Adepta Sororitas. Sisters don’t use psykers, or have any psychic troop choices. Now people will say “What about Necrons or Tau? They don’t either. “. True, but they have flyers and big guns and other things that make up for it. Sisters are still using metal minis! I doubt GW will completely overhaul the Sororitas. Others will say, “How about using them as allies?” That is true, but that also means buying more codex books and more miniatures, and now new rule book too!? Plus this puts them on the… Read more »
