Victrix’s Norman & Persian Plastics Prepare For Battle
October 8, 2019 by brennon
Victrix Limited has been keeping us updated on the progress of their new plastic ranges starting off with the Unarmoured Norman Infantry who are going to be making up the bulk of your invasion force.
The set will come with a good array of weapons, shield types and of course heads which will allow you to mix up your force. As well as the classic conical helmet that you can see in the preview above they've also created some heads which feature the iconic shaved head that we see across artwork and such of the period.
The range is going to be expanding to focus on lots of additional dynamic elements for this plastic set plus shield options which would allow you to use them as soldiers from other European nations. This should give you another good dose of Dark Age awesomeness.
Persian Power
As well as the Normans there's also a preview of the Persian Light Infantry which will be coming to build up Ancient forces.
The models here are created to represent Later Achaemenid Persians who would have fought against Alexander The Great and Xenephon as well as taking part in a number of different civil wars that Persia also faced.
As well as the skirmishing spearmen and warriors and axes there will also be those armed with slings and also bows for more ranged options.
What do you think of these new previews from Victrix?

The Normans are looking great. The Persians equally so. However, do Victrix produce Macedonian adversaries to go up against them?
They certainly do
very nice.
nice.
PERSIANS!!!!!!!
Wow this is a bolt out of the blue (didn’t know they were planning on doing them any time soon). With that new company (sorry forget the name) already doing some, it looks like we’ll be swamped for choice when it comes to plastic Persians (and not a day too soon as they usually just do endless Romans and Greeks, we have really needed more plastics for “horde” type armies for donkeys years).
I used have a lovely 1/72 HaT Persian army

They’re talking about producing a Biblical range as well starting with Egyptians. Good times.
If the Normans fit with my Conquest and Crusader ones, probably worth buying a bag. No honeycomb mail insight!
Persians, I know nothing about, but not sure I’d fancy painting a full Army given their fashion choices.
Everybody knocks Victrix about the size of the chain mail rings. Granted, the mail on the older Republican Romans was a bit oversized, but the mail on the new vikings is awesome. Its big enough to paint up nicely and actually look like chain mail, rather than looking like a strangely textured shirt. Dont base your opinion on pictures of 3d renders, the actual figures are great.
Agreed. Having picked up a sprue to check them out the mail looks fine.
Bought one of Victrixs chariots recently. Really cool kit with lots of great detail and some nice variety. Pretty cool but a bit too historic for my fantasy army.
