Hold Bolt Action’s Berlin With The Last Levy From Warlord

If you're playing as the Germans and the campaign has got to that point where it's a desperate defence of Berlin against the Russians then you're going to need the Last Levy box from Warlord Games for Bolt Action...
The Last Levy was the desperate defence on behalf of the army to hold Berlin from being taken by the Allies. The army was pretty much in tatters at this point and so they enlisted the help of teenagers, the old, and the injured to fight.
It might sound like a Hollywood movie in the making, and it probably would be a pretty great one, but it was actually fairly sombre when you think about it. A lot of poor lads were killed defending what was clearly a hopeless cause.
If you fancy re-enacting the final days of the war then check out this very eclectic box.
What do you think?
Cool, yeah. I’m of the opinion though that they should at least come out with models for other armies in the books like the Dutch and Greeks before delving into these types of units.
With figures like these, so full of individual character. It makes you want to name them all and build their background story into your game.
I agree Huscarle! They are very different from your standard “box of WW2 German infantry” and you could definitely repurpose these great mini’s for other games and settings…
Across the dead earth maybe ? 🙂
I agree with manowar, they should complete the major and minor nations first before releasing novelty items
Novelty item? Yeah, could be seen as a bit of a niche late-war product but have to say I like em, and not just for Battle of Berlin – can’t see why you couldn’t press them into use for any of the fighting in Germany, Konigsburg, Thorn, Breslau, the forcing of the Rhine… Even use them for Nazi partisans/agitators in late ’45 & ’46, sporadic terrorist attacks went on long after the surrender and that I think would make for an awesome skirmish scenario, squad of US or British troops hunting down a handful of assailants through the bombed out… Read more »
I admit novelty probably wasnt the right word I was looking for
think ill be picking up a box of these mybe even two
They also look like they could make good survivors or remains of units in a post apocalypse type game.
I really like that set great flavour peace and would enable the creation of great stories. I think in Bolts this is even more appropriate to remind us of the reality of war!
