40K’s Psychic Awakening Prophecy Reveals Howling Banshee Exarch
September 10, 2019 by brennon
The first prophecy has been revealed which starts off the massive new campaign for Warhammer 40,000 soon. Psychic Awakening is just around the corner and here's the first hint as to what's happening from Games Workshop...
So, it seems like the Aeldari are going to be involved somewhere here...as if we hadn't guessed that already. It seems like we're going to be seeing the Aeldari facing something dark and dangerous, the return of Slaanesh into the world of Warhammer 40,000 perhaps or maybe something worse.
We do know that this means that we're going to be getting some new models for the Aeldari starting off with Howling Banshees in plastic as shown by this new Exarch model.
The Howling Banshees are the up close and personal experts of warfare in the Aeldari army using their specially designed masks to emit a terrifying banshee scream which disorientates their enemies before they dive in with flashing blades. Exarchs are then the leaders of these units and this model looks great, leaping into battle.
If you're a follower of Ynnead instead however there is a chance for you to make a Ynnari Exarch from the kit too. Maybe you're one of those Aeldari that believes the traditional Craftworlds have dropped the ball and you want a new path to follow?
I do really like the model once again and it'll be cool to see how different the makeup of the Ynnari is going to be compared to the traditional Craftworld factions. The Ynnari, after all, were able to bring together warriors from across the Aeldari spectrum...even the Dark Eldar.
With the first book for Psychic Awakening being subtitled Phoenix Rising, I'm sure we're going to get a lot more for the Aeldari. I am personally hoping they go through all of the Aspect Warriors and give us new models for Swooping Hawks, Striking Scorpions, Flame Dragons, Dark Reapers, Warp Spiders and the like. They were always some of the coolest looking models for the Eldar back in the day.
What do you make of the new models?

You don’t need to be a Farseer or Warlock to foresee that I will be adding some Howling Banshees and their Exarchs to my glorious pile of unpainted minis in the future! These are lovely!
I do really like those. Hopefully this means that we might get rest of Aspect warriors as plastic kits as well.
this +1000 …
We’ve got enough Farseers and Spiritseers, but the Aspect Warriors are practically impossible to find.
Hmmm…this is certainly a good teaser for what’s to come. Not really that excited about the Eldar, but it’s cool to see them getting new/updated stuff. Though with Slaanesh supposedly coming back…updated Noise Marines maybe…?
Slaneeshi models would be my wish too. Hopefully an upgrade sprue for the existing CM kit and some bespoke noise marine goodies
A Noise Marine/Emperor’s Children upgrade sprue for the existing Chaos Marines could be good, as well as a dedicated kit. According to the fluff, Fabius Bile has been interested in repurposing the Primaris marines for his own nefarious ends, so it could be interesting if we got an upgrade sprue or kit for corrupted Primaris units.
Hopefully the focus on Slaanesh will see a Codex for the Emperor’s Children and Fulgrim.
Heres hoping GW will bring all the Aspects into plastic and redo the Guardians.
Haha, nice joke! That’s the only eldar unit, the rest will be imperials/marines. We can’t have dirty xeno players think they matter, can we?
nice.
So what’s next ?
Squats ?
I mean …. surely an awakening of this magnitude could be just excuse they needed to return them from the squatted status back to life ?
I was just thinking about getting back into 40k. Eldar were my old army, and I was thinking about going that route again. I was just looking at all my options… on the Artel W and Raging Heroes websites because their space elves were so much better than the extremely outdated official models. So, here’s for hoping, GW. I’ll be happy to dive into official Aeldari models if they get more than a couple of models out of this event.
