@mage – my dad is supposed to be a retired Gunsmith! However, the devil makes work for idle hands and there are only so mnay hours of ‘Borderlands 2’ you can play before my mother throws him outside!
He is refitting the rear end of the garage at present…building more shelves with draws to contain all his collection of leading gear, etc, etc, which is has been causing my mother some consternation over the past year. She imagines that the weight of all the metal and brass will eventually cause the ‘upstairs’ to collapse the house.
My dad has also being making arrangements for his new Lathe. It is somewhere just past Middlesborough (about 40-50 minutes drive), but there is no way it will fit in his car. I will ask him what kind it is when I see him on saturday or if he messages me on Steam.
I thought ‘Klutz’ was a Yiddish word?
He didn’t “shoot” himself, but he did ND. He was re-loading some kind of turn-of-the-century Belgian brass cartridges. To do it you have to grind about 1mm from the case (if I get this wrong it is just because his version would take a week to write) to hit in a new percussion cap. He always wears a big welding glove when he does shuff like that. However, the choob picked up the wrong case and with no glove starts to grind.
Good job he was holding the cartridge in pliers as the cap exploded. He jumped and when he looked he couldn’t see where the inside of the cap was…it had hit the Grinder and gone back, into the ‘webbed’ bit between thumb-and-index finger, and about 2 inches into the meat of his wrist.
After he stopped the blood, and my mum going Bez, he just stated pushing the metal bit back out. It took him 30 minutes, but he got it out. First time he has ever done anything like that. My mother was yelling to call an ambulance or for him to go to the hospital. However, if he does and they ask him what happened it could be classed as a “firearms incident”. Not good.
I told him he was starting to loose his marbles now that he is 64. He asked me if I would like to discuss it outside and “see just how old I am?” I declined due to the bad weather and not because I would get my head in my hands.
I spent a few months in the Irish countyside and chatted to a few Farmers. All mad as a bag of Foxes.
Jamie explained about your Nintendo reference. He is a bit more “down with the kids” than myself!
‘The Man in the High Castle’ is a bit more complicated than that, but that is the state of the world when the series is set. The Germans nuked Washington, before the US had the bomb, and the US surrendered. So the East coast is rules by the Nazis and the West by the Japanese. There is a ‘neutral zone’ in the middle where it is just like a 1940’s version of the Wild West. You have to give it a go…I love it, but that must be because I love Nazis!
The training thing is not so much of a “comfort zone” thing, but more that I collapse and piss myself! If I start shaking, sweating, and vomiting any younger students will think I am possessed.
You should fuck about with huge machinery. The machine my dad used to operate when he was still working for ‘Metal Spinners’ was about 50 tons and the size of a garage. He used to make in insides for Nuclear power stations – the hemispheres for the reactors and top secret stuff for the German MoD. The company used to make tank wheels and they had to have special tools.
The German guys would turn up with a briefcase attatched to the wrist – just like in the movies. They also made the insides for Harrier Jump-Jet’s undercarriage. That was back in the early 1980’s.
The “Devil’s Cabbage”, or the “Devil’s Lawn-clippings” is a reference to Marijuana. I am informed that this is what it means, man.
I finished the CA Nox troops. I’ll take some pictures for tomorrow. I have only been in for a couple of hours and need a bath.
I did listen to @brennon, but because he is admin/works for BoW that he is 1) right, or that 2) I can’t tell him that. There is no need to try and talk down either. I understand that he was “only obeying orders”, but I didn’t have a clue what had happened, that something had been removed, and that ‘everybody’ get told off and threated with being banned. That is being an arse and I told him so.
When you say “…give it a wiiiiiiide berth” that disheartens me a bit.
I really like the Speeder pilot with the ‘Roman’ helmet. Very cool. Those Chaos guys don’t really have much ammo for those Bolters do they? One good burst and your going to be empty. Where is all the spare ammunition?
The Marine with the pitted sword is very nice. 500pts. A dynamic pose for a change.
The Pokemon monster’s base is excellent. I watched a few modelling videos where they make water effects…awesome stuff. I also like your objective marker. Very effective. The weathering on the Speeders is pretty fantastic. Did you drill the Assualt-Cannon barrels? The yellow(ish) colour is extra-effective as a contrast. Nice going. 500pts.
@ceppie – I still think those gun-drones are awesome!
Well, you will have to check if there is any space next to where you move. I might need to become a hermit – you can always join me! We could always become like the Washingtonn Snipers, but we are the wrong colour.
After that amount of time did you find a Syrian refugee camp had been set up? Lovely food.
@sundancer – all that tax stuff is so easy. Pay someone to do it for you!
@woldenspoons – I wanted the one that looks like Captain America, but that was a limited edition for a US gaming thing. I will keep watch on Ebay.
It is also time you used a full-stop at the end. No excuses or becoming lazy in here. It will be ROPES next time!
@warzan – ah, now I know what this is all about! I will have to ask him about it. As always, you are the boss. However, @brennon needs to look at what he writes before he posts it. I know he works for you and is Admin, but his bedside manner leaves a bit to be desired. A bit too much ‘Unit 731’ and not enough ‘Carry on Matron’. I have watched him on various OTT videos and think he is a really nice, funny guy and I hope he doesn’t think I am being a dick on purpose.
We will try and be good boys and girls!
@oriskany – you made it! Better you than me having to put up with weather like that. Even up in Scotland when it is really bad it is nothing like I have seen on the news. Shetland being the exception, but not when I was there.
@limburger – Hammond Organs are what my uncle used to play. Very cool picture too.
