Fantasy Flight Reveal Special Obi-Wan Kenobi For Essen 2019
September 5, 2019 by brennon
Attendees of Essen SPIEL 2019 this year are going to get the chance to pick up a Fantasy Flight Games Convention Exclusive version of Obi-Wan Kenobi for use in Star Wars: Legion.
This new take on the classic and well-loved Obi-Wan Kenobi is a Commander Expansion for the game feature a resin version of the hero atop a piece of rubble as he slices apart Battle Droids and awaits his next challenge.
The set will feature no rules difference from his iteration in the Clone Wars Core Box but you'll find everything you need to play him on the tabletop including some reprinted upgrade cards to help you tailor your version of Obi-Wan Kenobi to fit your playstyle.
So, if you're heading to Essen SPIEL 2019 you'll be able to snap this fellow up and use him as a rather impressive leader for your Galactic Republic army!
What do you make of their new take on Obi-Wan Kenobi?

That is really nice.
I hope he’s not saying height ground?
Very nice!
And now every US Legion player feels what the EU players felt, when FFG announced the Celebrations exclusive Vader… Any bets on how high this puppy will go on eBay? 😉
I feel £150 is a reasonable bet.
I am sad that these are exclusives to big events as both of the sculpts (Vader and Obi) are really pretty. I do understand that making them limited ed means theyre more desirable though etc.
IIRC the Vader did go for 300’ish USD.
I really dislike the convention Exclusive stuff, especially when it’s not going to be available in conventions in other parts of the world. I would love to get that model but I simply can’t get to Essenspiel. If it was available at UKGE or Salute or something, maybe. But the costs of travel coupled with having no spare annual leave mean that a trip to Germany is unfortunately out of the question. I don’t mind it so much when companies do convention miniatures that they make available on their webstore (Corvus Belli and Ttcombat both do this) but when it… Read more »
it’s the same with the Vader one but luckily it’s “just cosmetics” and these models have the same stats as the original minis so I really don’t care that much
The thing is, and I realise I might well be a massive minority, for me it’s all about aesthetics. I don’t play Legion, but like many other games, there are many miniatures in the range that I like and would buy simply to have the opportunity to paint them. This is one of them. I bought a model from Ttcombat a few years ago even though I don’t play Carnivale purely because I loved the miniature. Also, I totally understand that this is most definitely a #firstworldproblem and that I am in no way entitled to this model. However I… Read more »
Cosmetics is why we’re playing these games with (painted) plastic minis instead of cardboard tokens …
Lose the battle Droid and that’s the perfect start for a diorama with an Anakin Skywalker miniature.
“You will be able to snap this fellow up” is hugley optimistic even for attendees. Let’s hope FFG have learned from the Celebration Vader debacle…..
And yes I want it 😀
Yeah, I don’t like exclusives like this. It’s the Darth Vader thing all over again. Go ahead, FFG… Feed the scalpers on eBay.
As said above, the whole “exclusive to this convention” thing is awful. Follow the Warlord Games example, make it limited Ed, but stick it on the website for all to buy during that time – that way everyone who want one is happy and the Ebay scalpers lose out for a change
