Summon The Seas As An Isharann Tidecaster In AoS: Soulbound
August 20, 2019 by brennon
Mysterious allies and untrusting ones at that is the name of the day as Cubicle 7 showed off another archetype preview for Age Of Sigmar: Soulbound, the new RPG, the Isharann Tidecaster.
The Isharann Tidecaster are some of the most important spellcasters within the ranks of the Idoneth Deepkin. It is their knowledge of the ethersea which allows their allies to flow from the deepest oceans and travel through the skies to hunt down their foes inland. Tidecasters will also find themselves specialising, a hint towards their gameplay mechanics here, with spells that either draw on the destructive power of the sea, or its protective qualities, shielding you from harm.
Much like with many of their kin they also carry a deep loathing which can be used to probe the minds of their targets, revealing with secrets and sometimes even modifying their memory should the occasion warrant it.
It seems like if you're going to be playing an Isharann Tidecaster then you're going to be taking on the role of the alien outsider, untrusting and suspect of everyone. However, when called to support your allies against a greater foe you may find bounds of friendship formed.
I really like what Cubicle 7 is doing with the different archetypes in Soulbound right now, drawing on the different factions within the Grand Alliance of Order and giving you a variety of cool narrative hooks with which to build your characters and groups. I like the idea of a motley crew in many regards, a band of heroes joined together by fate and a greater foe, putting aside their differences in order to survive the ordeals of the Mortal Realms.
What do you make of the Tidecaster?

He look like an escapee from Aquaman.
The Idoneth Deepkin have a very interesting life.
Playing a Tidecaster would not be easy, but for someone wanting an RPG challenge with depth in cultural history and emotion character development it could really payoff!
