Tend To The 40K Wounded With The Sister Hospitaller
August 20, 2019 by brennon
Games Workshop has been showing off more previews of the characters coming to the new and improved Warhammer 40,000 Adepta Sororitas army this week with the introduction of the Sister Hospitaller.
The Sister Hospitaller are those who minister to the sick and dying. Every battlefield will claim the lives of one or more Sisters Of Battle and when they are wounded the Sister Hospitaller will try to heal their wounds and get them back into the fight. When a Sister is beyond saving, however, like in the case of this unfortunate soul, then the Hospitaller will administer a final benediction and send her off into the void to serve The Emperor in a different way.
A lot of detail has been worked into this sculpt to make it more of a vignette. I like that it tells you a story and builds on the idea of these Sister Hospitaller as both medics and holy figures at the same time. I imagine you could create some absolutely stunning dioramas with this model and I would bet Golden Demon is going to be full of Adepta Sororitas once they release.
There are also callbacks to the original model in this design and you'll find an alternative head in the pack which enables you to add the rebreather mask that she originally wore. Also, the model this time has been entirely clad in Adepta Sorortias Power Armour rather than a cut down version of it.
The warrior nun look is certainly in full effect across everything we've seen from them so far.
Are you tempted by this new addition?

Mmmmm. ?
That looks really good.
Nah…
Well, it’s leagues better than the revamped Repentia models, and it’s nice to see the blending of the old Hospitaller with some new aesthetics. The servo-arms holding her tools are a nice addition, and the base makes her into an awesome standalone diorama. Still think I’ll stick to Raging Heroes if I ever decide to pick up any Battle Sisters.
I like the sculpting of the wounded figure and the other figure is ok, but once again the face of the standing figure is yet again more masculine (in fact it looks more like Kirk Douglas with that chin).
Your right this a vignette, not a playable piece for a game. Take this up to 75mm and i would be interested in creating a display piece put I would never place this on my table as part of an army. An over size base on a character will be a liability in the game as well. Add to that they have, again, put too much ornamentation and what is with the birds? GW needs to remember that this should be a military field medic first, and a nun second. Clip off the birds, loose the second figure and file… Read more »
And yet somehow the dead Sister has better personality …
That would make a great display for sister lover’s.
…is there a movie version of that? I hope it has more action than’the killing of Sister George’!
lol not that kind of action but their is a films with armed nuns in it?
Does Nuns on the run count. They were armed robbers at the start of the film
I love this but I also hope there is a less complex version too. One on a standard size base that won’t be dragging around a corpse everywhere?
It’s awesome! This is without a doubt a display piece, but I’ll struggle to use this in Killteam.
Not an grain of feeling in that! Considering the subjects it is without any soul. The fallen Sister’s Bolter is massive…she could never carry that. Why does the Hospitaller have a SM medics tool. Do the Sisters have gene-seed?
Well, they are wearing power armour… fluff wise it does increase their strength. But that’s the least of this sculpts problems lol.
Power armour would allow her to carry a bolt gun that was extra large (though you assume the metals weigh a lot!) that being said the model has no power armour around the hands.
No gene seed. Just orphaned women indoctrinated by the church. Don’t know why they would need to gather seed
I like to imagine they’re harvesting uterus’. It’s the romantic in me
Lol’s
Agree about the giant Bolter though. Really puts me off these models. The new Custodians have decently proportioned bolt weapons so I don’t see why the sisters have to carry cartoon guns.
I’m assuming the boltguns are the same size as marine boltguns at which point I’d ask why would they be smaller? I wasn’t really a fan of Infinity models having weapons that changed size depending on whether it was held by a male or female. The old sister models held their boltguns with 2 hands generally, but really if you’re going down the rabbit hole of realistic proportions in 40k good luck. Also as said before, this model seems more of a vignette when taking into account its base. I can’t think of many other 40k models of that size… Read more »
Because Astartes weapons are made for Astartes proportions I guess? They wouldn’t get their finger through the trigger guard of a lasgun!
I like everything about it except for the birds..too Snow White
“to serve the emperor in a different way”. Oh I say…
I really like it! The only negative part of the sculpt is the right hand holding the cross. It seems weirdly posed and stiff. Everything else is more or less flowing or dynamic but that is a static pose. Also see is not pointing the cross at the dying sister or up at the sky or anything. I am thinking why would she hold it like that. It was supposed to signal her warding off enemies with a protective orb or something it might make to point it at them. But the sister is dying. Also the cross is not… Read more »
So, this new plastics range has less detail… and will cost more $$$!? The Hospitaler in this looks completely static and without any soul, the kind you get beautifully transferred over when a sculpt is done by hand. And for gosh sakes’s GW, sculpt FUR by hand, stop giving me C.A.D BANANAS and PLATE mail fur!
Print the master, than get your ultra talented hand sculpter’s to add more, then make the mold!
Plastics will never be able to compete with the quality of sculpts you get for metal and resin. Plastic simply can’t hold that standard (at least so far). You are able to make more “dynamic” models with plastic however which seems to be what they’re going for.
The doves make me think John Woo derected this mini. But for that to be true, they should both be duel wielding pistols that don’t need to be reloaded.
And I think it is funny how people think that Hospitilars are field medic knights (they weren’t).
I’m seeing so many negative comments at this. Now that GW is widening its limits and creating new and awesome things, now you complain.
SAD.
Less is more GW ….
How much you gonna charge for this one lol ? £50?
