What have you been up to?
So this Hobby Hangout will be FoW only?
Probably not. When big Ben from 4Ground would visit it was not just about 4Ground products.
But they many talk about FoW a bit more than usual.
IMHO
The idea is to look over stuff from the Slow Grow League. The likelihood is that will take up the entire hour but if they have spare time I’m sure they will look over other stuff.
Have to confess. I wanted to get my force painter but only now getting around to purchasing it. Su85 company with hero infantry motor support ; Il2 support, BA10 recon support , tank destroyer AT gun support and with katuyska or SU122 artillery.
3 wants to finish up this month.
1. Tighten up the FOW slow grow
2. IDF for TY infantry. So many little dudes.
3. Finish my 40k weekend project.
One maybe two will get done. One of these days I will be caught up. Lol.
Thanks for the review and the kind words. Sorry to confuse you @lancorz the reason the IDF Viper helicopters were in the post was as an excuse for feeling behind on the slow grow. I really appreciate these types of events as it helps keep me focused on goals. The TY IDF is table ready but still needs some support, the slow grow will be a slow process and I had a blast with the hobby weekend using paints that haven’t been off the shelf in awhile. Otherwise it would just be a gaggle on the work bench and a… Read more »
It’s okay mate, you could have put a fleet of squirrels in there and I wouldn’t know the difference. 😉
After a month off the brushes I’m back! Keen to not only show off what i’ve done, but to see what everyone else has been up to.
The cult of Fan cam request some screen time
ALL HAIL FAN CAM !!!
Still have four Panzer IVs and a tank commander to finish for my first 50 points. Also need to work out what to paint for my next 25 points – perhaps 2 Tigers!
Another reminder everyone:

Cool projects.
Really enjoyed the stream and hearing different people’s thoughts on the projects. I just want to highlight what @johnlyons said about German camouflage and men painting it on with Twigs… pretty much anything goes and it is pretty hard to go wrong – unless you go pink 😉
Not sure I will be knitting wee tank sweaters as suggested by @lancorz but I have seen people crochet Panzer slippers and they are something on my to do list… learn to crochet is slightly higher on the list so it might be a while!
JOHN @johnlyons STOP TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE BLACK TEMPLAR CONTRAST PAINT!!!1 😉 😉 lol
I actually found some of those where I live and almost bought a bottle, but the guy at the store said they needed a special primer so I just changed my mind.
have to get some of the scrim foliage
good luck skipper, let us know if you find it
I got some of North Star a couple of weeks ago after I saw Gaz use it on his project.
nice to know someone still has it, I’m not sure where 4Ground sourced it and they haven’t had any themselves since they’ve been trying to rectify matters
@avernos I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that netting from Pegasus hobbies
Unless they’ve hidden it somewhere new, I’ve been through them and 289 mininatur products. It’s not a net but almost like horsehair with a leaf scatter applied. It has some body but can get teased apart into strands or used as a mat or even stacked to make hedges
I think it was just bare camo netting
not the scrim foliage, it’s a weird ground cover/creeper plant thing. 4Ground is the only company I’ve seen it with, but since they sourced it elsewhere it does exist, just not sure who the manufacturer is
@avernos Woodland Scenics have something similar but I haven’t compared the two… not sure if I have any of the Woodland Scenics stuff in a box. https://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/Foliage
Also, Gerry, how do you make your camo nets from bandage? I have a suitable bandage, do you dye it or paint it?
There a ton of you tube vids on it @robert
I couldn’t find a video on how Gerry makes his camo nets but did find some nice cat videos 🙂
had a look at the woodland stuff off @torros suggestion, it’s not the same, but may do a similar job, not sure how robust it is. For my bandages I dyed them with artists ink as I had some kicking around. I don’t like painting it as it goes brittle and patchy. If you apply it first and paint it on the model that’s fine though. But I like to have it sitting so I can throw it on afterwards
Thanks.
Thank for the comments guys, great to see everyone’s work from the slow grow league in this hobby hangout. Great little mini cult community developing, hope to see some more being added.
Looking forward to finishing my Panzers and starting my Tigers this weekend.
We are the OTTSGLMCC, has a nice ring to it! Congrats on winning the book and, yup, would love to see more involved!
loved the projects covered especially the vehicles guys.
I wasn’t lurking I was on holidays, caught up now though *peers*
