Today the guys are opening up the F4U Corsair Ace: Pappy Boyington and Philip Kirkwood, two amazing fighter pilots who served in World War Two who are more than worthy of deploying on the tabletop for your games of Blood Red Skies.
How many Aces have you scored in your games?

I think Richard Bong (or Borg) was the best pilot (most credited kills) for the US Air Force in WW2, not this guy. Whether the figures are accurate or just more Nazi propaganda, there are loads of Luftwaffe pilots credited with 3 figure kills – 26 kills isn’t anywhere near the highest number.
Borg ?
As in : resistance is futile ?
😉
It is Richard Bong… Richard Borg is board game designer, I even own some of his games!
Nice review. I have to agree with John that I’m over metal miniatures.
Though I do understand that some companies can’t swing the costs.
I would dispute the No 1 Ace claim as there were many German pilots with 100’s of kills
Top 10 German Luftwaffe Aces Of WWII. But they did have the Advantage of many ‘targets’ to go at and do to a shortage of pilots they tended to have much more flight time than there opponents.
Theodor Weissenberger – 208 kills.
Heinrich Ehrler – 208 kills.
Hemann Graf – 212 kills.
Heinrich Bär – 220 kills.
Erich Rudorffer – 222 kills.
Wilhelm “Willie” Batz – 237 kills.
Otto Kittel – 267 kills.
Gunther Rall – 275 kills
Gerhard “Gerd” Barkhorn – 301 kills
Erich “Bubi” Hartmann – 352
Nice model and great unboxing. Thanks guys!
Do the aircraft transfer sheets come with each pilot’s squadron markings?
Wasn’t Manfred von Richtofen, aka the Red Baron, the highest kills in WW1 with 80 air combat victories?
Wiki says yes

Interesting bit from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_ace
“Allied pilots fought over German occupied areas and were not in the position to verify kills ”
So in theory Allied aces could have scored higher, but no one has proof.
Never heard of Pappy until the TV series. Still must get a game in.
Ouch..@johnlyons how did you get the statistics so wrong ?
Too many tanks 🙂 Got lost in the air 😉
great video guys and you can play as Bader in the game.
Major Richard Bong was the highest scoring US ace of WW2 with 40 kills. Highest scoring of all time was Erich Hartman of Germany with 352. Highest US ace of WW1 was Eddie Rickenbacker with 26. Highest of scoring ace of WW1was Germany’s Manfred von Richthofen, the Red Baron, with 81.
If it helps @johnlyons I’m 34, fast approaching 35 🙁
The Bader/Galland re-union from “This is your life”occurs @ 28 mins in to the vid
I used to prefer the feel of metal minis. Then i started cycling long distances with 2 boxes full trapped to my back and I quickly changed my mind
