Conquer the World Using FireForge’s Mongol Cavalry
April 23, 2014 by dracs
The Mongol Cavalry have been one of FireForge Games' most anticipated plastic sets and now they are available from their webstore, giving you the ancient world's fastest and most feared army for your plans of world conquest.
The cavalry forces of the Mongols were rightly feared by the nations of the world. Their light equipment and use of stirrups meant that they were easily able to out manoeuvre their more heavily armed opponents. Wielding a variety of bows, swords and lances, the cavalry of the Mongols were a force to be reckoned with.

I picked these up at Salute. I’ll definitely be getting some more. They’re really nice models.
In plastic nonetheless. I better look into them.
I’ve been waiting for these a long time.
What games would work with these?
You would be able to use them in any28mm historical ancients/medieval game or kings of War of Warhammer
Fireforge do their own set of rules for them as well.
These ones are light cavalry so they will pass for many of the steppe tribes over quite a large time period. They will look just as good as Huns in 450 AD as they do Mongols in the late middle ages.
Just thought I’d give them another plug as I’m very pleased with mine and I like to share good news.
and not just Huns, sure you could do Sarmatians, Alans, all sorts – especially when you mix and match with the infantry set… Turkic armies as well no doubt…
Agreed. You could even use them in a Byzantine/Turcoman scrum, on either side, or even against muslim forces prior to the crusades. On a related topic, I want to introduce wargaming to my 2nd year Greek Warfare class. I haven’t played ancients before, and was wondering if there was a simple but somewhat realistic rules set out there. I don’t want long drawn out battles as it will be extracurricular: maybe an hour or two max. The ongoing game will start with a Risk style Greek city-state board, groups will take turns between classes, and when armies bump into each… Read more »
You might be better served starting a thread about this on the historical forum. It’ll be seen by more people and be easier to retrieve.
Awesome looking kit, shame I missed it at Salute. :S
They didn’t do a very good job of announcing the release. It was only because I saw the 3 ups last year that I checked by their stand to see if there was any news.
It was up on their FB page yesterday and TMP this morning
I would have a look at Basic Impetus
Just a few stands 4 pages of rules and all the army lists are free.. Ok there not perfect but a good lead n to the full set
