So lets say I wanted to paint a blade made out of fire.  Sword shaped.  No flames coming off of it.  I’ve googled images of flaming swords and typically it starts off white/yellow at the tip, and passes through orange, red and black as you get near the hilt.  Seems legit.

But stop and think about the narrative of the piece.  The white part is the hottest.  Theoretically, if any part was the hottest that would be the “source”, which should be near the hilt, right?  The colours should run the other way along the blade?  Or it should be more or less equally hot along its length.

Anyone have any opinions?  Perhaps you’ve done actual smithing? I’m asking because I am thinking of painting my swords like this for my Khorne in the upcoming hobby weekend.
