Mythic Games & Lucky Duck Reveal Time Of Legends: Destinies

Mythic Games and Lucky Duck Games have now revealed what was going on with that piece of artwork we saw last week. Time Of Legends: Destinies has been announced as their new collaborative project with more details popping up at Gen Con.
Not gonna say I told you so, but I told you so. Destinies is set within the dark medieval-fantasy universe of Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc but here you take on the role of heroes on a quest to fulfil their destiny. There are many routes to this victory through a branching series of quest packed with dark storylines, NPCs to meet and battle against and mysteries to solve.
The game also uses Lucky Duck Games' Scan&Play technology in order to give players a unique story-driven experience without the need for a Game Master. The app also helps keep things secret and offers up unique ways to explore and quest much like what we've seen already by companies like Fantasy Flight Games.
It seems apt then that with such an epic narrative planned for this game they also are looking to make sure that there are consequences to the actions you take as you explore and quest together as a group, changing the world forever and making your journey different from others out there.
Lucky Duck has done good things in the past with app integration in games like Chronicles Of Crime and we know that Mythic are big fans of narrative and storytelling in their games so one hopes this is a match made in heaven.
One-to-three players seems like a strange player count for the game too but, as always, the proof will be in the pudding but we're fascinated to find out more.

I probably would have given this a look,but the inclusion of an app makes it a non-starter for me.
Had the same thought.
Game + beer = good times
Game + beer + app = hard work
I think apps have been made really useful and helpful recently. FFG has done good stuff with their companion versions.
‘Hard work’ is not the issue for me. The issues for me are 1. i don’t want to need a ‘smart’ phone and the app in order to play the game because of the extra investment this may require, if not now then perhaps later, and 2. i don’t want to be looking at a screen as part of the game. It’s a different aesthetic and a different psychology.

sounds like an interesting game system.
App use is something I look forward to more and more with games like Escape and Mansions of Madness seemlessly adding them in the background or uboot integrating the gameplay mechanics. Really adds to the immersion.
@Coco .That’s something we shall have to agree to disagree on.I don’t need an app to help immerse me in whatever game myself and my friends are playing.Apps are an intrusion into games ( imho ).
Crabbok has an interview on Mythic’s Joan of Arc with someone vaguely familiar with BoW peeps.
The first section is on “Joan of Arc” 1.5 Kickstarter and “Time of Legend: Destinies”
coverage starts around 3:35.
The app looks quite good and uses QIR codes on the game’s cards, interactions with the user and doesn’t take away dice rolls but appear to have some info hidden from the players.
Az wasn’t 100% sure but he though the app, perhaps a web version of it, could be run on a laptop.

I find the apps a godsend for me as they let me play solo which i find myself doing more and more now, i have both ffg app game for star wars and lotr.
Which Star Wars and LOTR games are you referring to? Do you spend much of your gaming time looking at the screen when using the app(s) for these games?
