Make Bases Ready To Play In Secret Weapons Kickstarter
July 25, 2019 by dracs
Secret Weapon Miniatures have announced that they will be going to Kickstarter this August to fund a new range of Ready To Play bases.
These Ready to Play bases come complete with colour and texture, meaning they'll be ready for the gaming table the second you attach them to a miniature.
Secret Weapon seem to be preparing for a wide range of designs, and have stated that bases can be re-painted using the existing textures.
I must admit I am in two minds about these. These designs look great and will make miniatures very eye-catching. However, I do wonder how they well they will take the super-glue needed to attach the miniatures.
Hopefully, we will find out more when the Kickstarter itself begins.
What are your thoughts on these new bases?
I’ve recently done my own (by scanning my Core Space mat, and then printing it out on my printer before sticking them on some MDF bases). The trick is the pin the feet of the model, then apply some paint or ink from a felt tip to the pin sticking out of the feet and then pressing the pins on the base as a guide for where to drill the base to stick the pins into. A dab of superglue on the pins and you’re golden 🙂
I use Secret Weapon almost exclusively for my 40K models and the quality is always exceptional. Weather using cobble, desert, or masonry you always have a great starting point for basing. As to pre painted, I don’t think this will be for me but I’m willing to take a look at the KS and see if they can change my mind.
they all look great from the pictures in the post.
Trouble is what the paint job is better than the Mini
They certainly look pretty but Im not convinced this is a product that needs Kickstarter especially given the size of the company involved. I mean Gamers Grass have ready ti play bases already and they’re nicer than these and they weren’t kickstarted and they’re a tiny company in comparison, I mean i get it Kickstarter is ‘easy’ but these big companies taking advantage of the service is really hurting it for the little guys who NEED the service.
Hope they’ll have bases for Warhammer Quest!
