Historicon 2019 Live Blog - Part Two!
Bonus Post - Battle of Magnesia - 6mm Ancients
Early in the con we came across a game of “To the Strongest” – representing the Battle of Magnesia. This was fought in 190 BC between the Romans and the Seleucids in what is today western Turkey. The Romans found success with a pre-imperial, pre-Marius Reform “citizen” army. The problem with this model army was that it was not sustainable in the strategic sense, especially as Roman territory continued to expand.
I do like to the strongest as a game . I think grids on the table for movement work really well
Just for interest Im pretty sure the figures in the photos are Old Glory 10mm
Probably. Charlie brown running the game didn’t want to talk
Shame
Yeah, he was the first person to turn us away. Happened to us a little on Day One. By Day Two we’d picked up on the idea of approaching GMs as they were SETTING UP the game rather than running it. By Day Three I was approaching them at 08:00 while they were setting up their FIRST games, introducing myself and the team, saying I’d be back later. This way when we approached DURING a game, they already knew us and were more likely to pause for a 3-minute shoot.
