Darrel… you say that metal models are becoming more simple. You suposedly haven’t ever built a thunderfire cannon.
But it’s quite a nice model anyway
Yes I have built the Thunderfire cannon I believe the video is in the pipeline
but have you tried a SM battle barge from battlefleet gothic? i had loads of problems with mine.
Only use i can see for that weapon.. a gaint letter opener. Im really into this new codex. Im a huge necron fan, its the only other army i realy bother playing. But this book has really taken my fancy. That said, it seems some of the latest codexs have some outstanding hits.. but equally some massive misses. This codex has so interesting combination you can make, and i can really see some layers of cheese cooking already, but i do find alot of the option and even character option that knowone in there right mind would ever take. I actually like this guy, I wasnt too interested in Grey Knights until i saw your stuff on Crowe! I dont know why I just think its a bit of fun! So I decided to maybe pick up a 1k GK army with Castellan leading it. I’m not too fussed on building a mega list, just something that I think looks nice!
Crowe is pretty cheap but I’d say use him in bigger games, that way you can spam fearless purifiers with Hammers or falchions for a point cheaper than the strike squad marines and four incinerators at a massive 16 points off. even in a small 1000 point game Crowe plus 3 units of 10 purifiers (or 6 of 5 if you want more units) comes in at 960 points but saves you 192 points compared to 3 falchion/hammer and incinerator tooled up strike squads, what you’d spend 40 points on in this codex is anyone’s guess(personally an inquisitor and a hellrifle… Read more »
I’m sorry… So sorry, but…
The model is stiff and FUGLY, and completely unworthy of such a price. It looks like he doesn’t know how to wield his ironically unwieldy sword, like some kind of chicken who found a knife…
You have better poses in a plastic kit, and at least you can convert those plastic GK.
It makes me want to make a tutorial video about making capes and banners, so that you can proxy this guy (if you actually need him in your army, and from what I saw in this video and the others, you probably don’t)…
although I have no use for Crowe, I would fancy a tutorial about making capes.
because as every Wargamer worth his salt knows, Capes give you supper powers!
Some fine examples of this are Mephiston, batman, Marneus Calgar, High Marshal Helbrecht, and my buddy Steve.
The model is pretty poor but if you want to swamp objectives with flamer wielding power armour he will actually pay for his own points in the discounts purifiers get over strike squads, In fact I’m thinking a Coteaz Crowe tag team might just give you the most solid list in the book with the purifiers burning/hammering everything and razorbacks, servators and space orangutans providing long range anti armour.
Not that Castellan is anything to write home about but, I’ve yet to find a unboxing video where Darrell actually says the model amazes him. Maybe I havent watched enough haha
Maybe because he only unboxes 40k models…
Castellan Crowe sucks BAWLZ. The only use I can think of for him is taking out Monstrous Creatures with his rending. He’s simply not fast enough to afford to be a non-Independent Character. If he had a personal teleporter then he might be worth it, but he’s just plain slow and you can’t buy him a personal Razorback to drive around the board looking for things to kill him.
Use the sword as a toothpick? In all seriousness i wonder if GW may of accidentally made him non independent.
But with regards to the sword maybe it is so evil that to write down what abilities it does have will destroy your brain! Mordrak is the best named GK character imho. Draigo is good but only in larger games where i think his stat line and equipment will help him quite literally eat his way through anything.
You got it wrong on cleansing flame its a CC attack on pg 31, goes off before attacks are started in CC phase
