Find The Fate Of A Space Marines Chapter In Spear Of The Emperor
June 10, 2019 by dracs
Black Library have a new book by Aaron Dembski-Bowden up for pre-order, detailing the decline of a once-proud Space Marine chapter on the edges of the Great Rift.
This novel tells the story of the Emperor's Spears, the last of three Chapters who once guarded the Elara's Vale region, as their fate falls into the hands of Amadeus Kalus Incarius of the Mentor Legion.
The scattered worlds of the Elara's Veil nebula were once protected by the oath of unity sworn by three mighty Chapters of the Adeptus Astartes. The Star Scorpions were undone by flaws in their genetic coding. The Celestial Lions were ravaged by the Inquisition for sins they did not commit. Now, after hundreds of years, only the Emperor's Spears still keep their vigil. They are barbarian watchmen against the Outer Dark; bloodied but unbroken in their long duty.
This book, which will be coming out in hardback, eBook, and MP3 audiobook format next Saturday, actually first saw release late last year as a limited edition boxed set.
This beautiful edition was an excellent collector's piece, but this new release makes the story more accessible and will allow people to delve into this story on the edge of the Great Rift.
Aaron Dembski-Bowden does great work at creating character-focused stories, letting you witness epic events through the eyes of relatable characters. This promises to be a compelling story and one which should provide plenty of inspiration for your own games.

To me this could possibly be worth picking up.
If they did a set like this for one of the Dark Angels successor chapters, I’d be looking for a buyer for a kidney…
The GW bwooks are great a new one for the wanted list.
Everything that I’ve read from ADB has been great. I’ll have to put this one on my wishlist.
Black Library are hit-and-miss in my not-so-humble opninion. ADB’s name on the cover is a reliable sign of quality though.
To be honest I am not familiar with ADB’s writing at all but based on what you wrote his work seems to be worth reading. Two names that I so far have trusted when it comes to Black Library are Gav Thorpe and James Swallow.
He actually bmakes space marines interesting as individuals, three dimensional even; rather than overgrown adolescents shooting about glory. That’s maybe harsh on the other authors but … well try for yourself ?
Okay, I will.
