Time for The Weekender! Salute is only a week away (we can't wait!) and we talk about our plans for the show. As well as that we're loving the look of Mantic's Deadzone Terrain and talk about how Titanfall is inspiring our gaming table ideas.Warren also discusses plans for moving forward with Warhammer 40,000 and we get a sneaky peek at some Kingdom Death Miniatures!
I agree with Warren Salute is the “Event” of UK Wargaming, though Warhammer world has a lot of similarities with Mecca in that its always there and people go on pilgrimage to worship at it
That’s a very good point!
were you in Belfast during the week?
I was! next time, come up and say hello! 😉
I assumed it was your evil twin brother. But you probably saw a scruffy bloke covered in paint giving you a weird look on the escalator in castle court.
Do GW still require their staff to pray five times a day in its direction?
It’s 20 years since I worked there and I still pray 5 times a day. I even had to recalibrate the prayer mat when they moved to Lenton 😉
And at the heart of both is an uncommunicative monolith? 🙂
Roll on Salute! Much cash shall be spent!
And toys weigh more than money, so you won’t be going home any lighter either! 😉
You do realise I’m going to video bomb you by humping your leg.
Good weekender guys! I am getting back into 40k myself but am looking through my collection to see what I can use, my plan is to have a chaos and orc ally force. so far model wise I am using deadzone rebs, deadzone 3rd gen plague and my infinity models as cultists, deadzone plague gen 1 as demon prince, gen 2 as spawn, khador manowar as terminators, khador gun carriage as forgefiend, havent figured out the rest. as for warpath mantic has now got either released or in the works 4 games set in the warpath universe (project pandora, deadzone,… Read more »
Great show! See you in 7 days….
Awesome Weekender this week.
Love the Kingdom Death stuff and i’m really, really, REALLY piddled off that I missed the Kickstarter.
Great to hear a shout out for JAG, the finest sculptor in our industry in my humble opinion. Would be great to see the site shine a light on the some of the great creative people who are sculpting our minis.
@warzan here is a brief summary of kill team rules: – no more than 200 pts – uses the following FOC – (0-1) elites – (0-2) troops – (0-1) fast attack – you must purchase complete squads – any 40k codex, codex supplement, or official updates in WD may be used – no Forge World or other expansions may be used. – you may not take allies or fortifications – no flyers – no model may have more than 2 wounds before leader upgrades – must have at least 3 models – vehicles must have a combined armor of 33… Read more »
just ignore the incorrect link comment
Wah?? No FW?! Well that’s my idea for a mechanicum force out the window 🙁
The document spryte linked is the rules for an event held last year. The current version of Kill Team released just before Christmas as an ebook/iBook says nothing about banning FW. It does say the team has to be from a single codex but I think it would be a pretty mean spirited opponent who insisted on sticking to the letter, rather than the spirit of a rule which is more about not allowing allies in such a small force. I’m pretty sure you could make a mechanicum Kill Team using the army list in the Horus Heresy books and… Read more »
Great show guys. Kingdom Death minis do give me a hobby boner it has to be said.
See you at Salute lads.
I know we don’t like talking money on BOW, but I wanted to make a point about the Death Star terrain, more importantly the KS. The terrain boards and extras are awesome and would really enhance the gaming experience; but as usual a US based KS is way OTT on the delivery costs. You can pretty much add 50% to the pledge level for delivery here to the UK. If you compare that to the Mantic costs to the rest of the world (notwithstanding they were free to the UK AND the US) and it’s pricing a lot of people… Read more »
Aye US Kickstarter delivery prices are a real turn off for me.
WOW! Kingdom Death. Wish I’d backed that now. Interesting double component bases there – wonder if they’ll release a set of scenic inserts at a later date?
Cracking show, cannot wait to get to Salute next week and spend some of my wargaming clubs money on some nice terrain for it. As to the Kingdom Death stuff, it is just frighteningly lovely.
Matt from MiniWarGaming.com has been running a narrative campaign series around Tyranids and Necrons. I would really recommend checking it out as I think it would be right up your street Warren!

May have to get my old Eldar out again and give Kill Team a go. Or maybe finish stripping and converting those Space Marines Justin sold me and field a Death Watch Kill Team force.
For me, I think the Mecca of gaming is GenCon. All the gaaaames…XD
I was trying to work out from all the bleeps whether there is some hidden subliminal message in morse code hidden in this episode. I gave up after getting A-R-S…
I wish I could go to Salute.
I have no desire to go to Wanghomer World.
Warren, the below Kill Team rules are much better and more diverse then GW’s official rules.

Great. So Mantic already has the second generation of Terrain, but still haven’t sent my deadzone kickstarter?
Glad you liked it Warren. It should be full Dv chaos, I have another one of the GD minis if you want it and I have some Night Lords but they are painted didn’t think you would want them, but its you want I can send them over
Another Very Good show that phoenix is mental.
My KD pinup’s collection arrived today and must say it was one damn fine piece of plas…. tic..
Keeping my eye open for more nice KD that comes out to add to my girlie’s.
Thanks for the mention @warzan I look forward to catching up again.
The rules above are spot on for Kill Team.
Great weekender as per usual guys! Got in from a hard days work today to find my KD pin up box awaiting me. What can I say, it blew me away completely. Was mad enough to back the KS to the hilt so I have a mountain of this goodness coming at some point I’m both proud and ashamed to say. Will be a long time before I even scratch the surface when it comes though so if you guys are interested in any support for resourcing future coverage/unboxings etc I would be delighted to help any way I can.… Read more »
Should probably have tagged @warzan before making a direct comment in case you don’t see the comment. Sorry, it’s been a long day…
Justin brother, tone down the pitch on your bleep, I’m painting a model, listening away and that thing pierces like a bloody electric shock; I’ve now got a Bakunin Sineater with a squiggly blue chest splotch… You’re punishing us, not warren – now if you wanted to punish the offender with and electric shock, or an air horn; that might be worth the jolt 🙂
Can you send some pics of those Kindom Death sprues to Palladium Games so they can see what real “mouth watering miniatures” look like?
I skipped the KD kickstarter for many reasons, but I think I’ll be getting the monsters when they become available. There’s some really creepy err.. stuff there.
The ladies look like a modelling nightmare, though. I might have bought them in metal or resin of they were substantially less parts…
But what’s so odd about toes? Ofcourse you’re supposed to see individual toes and fingers in this scale. You’re supposed to paint them too…
