Dos anyone know if these game companies ever contract out any concept sketchwork like this? I do graphic design for a tech company … and in my spare time have filled sketchbooks with material like this, but sadly that’s as far as it’s ever gone. Naturally nothing I’ve done so far would be applicable to any current or future projects, but with a few requirements, specs, and parameters, I wonder if people could submit “pro bono” preliminary / concept design material like this?
Lots of companies contract out design work. Sometimes it’s concept design, sometimes it’s production design. As far as submission policies go, that varies a lot from company to company. Most of the larger and/or older companies have their policies posted somewhere on their website (or often in their forums, if they have one). Look around at the companies you’d like to do some work for and see if you can dig up their submission policy online.
I’ll have to look into that. Thanks!
Fascinating video. Seriously. That’s an amazing tool, as well. Did some research, though, and (*phew*) Solid Works is not a cheap piece of software. 🙂 Definitely delivers, though, especially in experienced hands.
Thanks, that was interesting. Keep up the good work!
Fascinating video. Really, really fascinating. And that dropship … oh my! I love the He111/B25 thing going on with the nose.
Roll on part 2. And the release of the resistance
Very cool. Would be great to see this kind of thing for other games as well, Bolt Action, etc.
nice!
Outstanding! That video alone justified my subscription. This is the kind of content that just isn’t out there anywhere else. Keep it coming.
Did he build his own BSG Viper for his desk?
Nice insight into the hard work that goes into his miniatures. Looking forward to part two! 🙂
Fascinating stuff as always. Dave Lewis will forever now be “Award winning furniture designer Dave Lewis” in my mind lol
Fascinating stuff and a great insight. Got to say loving the look of that Dropship; The DZC designs just seem to be going from strength to strength.
