Flames Of War D-Day Boot Camp: Friday
We Return To Warren's Airbrushing
We come back to find out how Warren’s doing with his airbrushing and he looks ready for his very own 3 Colours Up.
Warren is adding a zenith to his miniatures, using the airbrush to add some texture and shade to these 15mm miniatures.
That is the smile of a man who is lovin’ his hobby.
You’ve made the intro now. You have no choice. i want an episode of 3 colours up starring Warren, where he starts out optimistic, but slowly across the video he ends up swearing, with plastic soldier parts glued to his face and paint everywhere but the mini. Make it as a joke video, but pretend its serious. Let people work it out by watching it.
Love the idea of the sun on their backs @warzan it is a simple highlight. You are definately not a gorrila with any kind of brush – great work.
Really saw how light weight the plastics are when they get blown around by the airbrush, wonder if they need some 2p coins on the bases.. 🙂
looking good @warzan, like the highlighting technique. What sort of wash are you thinking of using?
Looks great warren definitely going to try this technique.
steady on big fella who would have thought 50 shades of grey would get your creative juices flowing. They are good enough for me to pick up clear details on a wall mounted tv ten feet away so well done its working. Besides as long as your happy sod the painting snobs
Warren’s 3 colours up… not a bad idea for people who don’t like to paint. Tips and tricks to get armies painted fast and easy.
Starting to look great, can’t wait until you airbrush the faces 🙂
It was expedient at least.
Need to get my airbrush up and running
Zenith?? Highlighting??
That zenith highlighting is looking good!
Good call on this technique, you can knock out a lot of miniatures all at once.
If you can keep paint flowing through an airbrush you definitely aren’t a gorilla!!
Keep at it Warren. Just Enjoy!
Well said @warzan, if you’re happy with it, screw anyone elses opinion! 🙂
Really enjoying seeing @warzan getting a good set of painted models. I have no time for painting snobs. Fair enough for competition painting, but for toys for the table there really is no point wasting time fannying about putting far too much effort into the process. Particularly for 15mm. I’m of an age now where my eyesight is getting worse, and really, the whole idea that something is “good enough if it is good enough” is all I am bothered about. Only me and my opponent (who is probably more interested in the game and more worried about what his… Read more »
Very nice warzan if they don’t like your model’s they can go Frick themselves.
Nice work. If the minis are too light, put some real sand on the base, just a thin layer will suffice. That both makes the bases heavy enough not to be tossed over or around by the slightest breeze and it also gives the base a nice texture. I always do this on my mini´s bases and it works fine.
Those miniatures are really starting to come together, looking forward to seeing the end product
sounds like sensible advise who are you and what have you done with warren lol
Whatever works for you my man! As me and my eyes get older, I realize I’m happier with a little less detail and good basing!
decent on the wash warren
This seems exactly the right approach at this scale in my opinion – too much detail can look really busy on smaller figures.
Enjoy your creative side Warren
