Warlord’s Monty Leads Allied Troops Into A Bolt Action Invasion

Warlord Games are getting ready for wargaming in Bolt Action focused around the D-Day Invasion. That means we're seeing some new releases for the Allied forces starting off with Monty or General Montgomery to you lad!

General Montgomery - Bolt Action

Here's some of the background on Monty that Warlord Games compiled...

"Monty was the General chosen to command of all Allied ground forces during Operation Overlord, from the initial landings until after the Battle of Normandy. Eventually going on to command of the 21st Army Group for the rest of the campaign in North West Europe.

His reputation damaged by the failed airborne attempt to bridge the Rhine at Arnhem in Holland, however, was followed successfully with a subsequent Allied Rhine crossing. Montgomery, when German armoured forces attacked American lines in the Battle of the Bulge, was given command of the US First Army and the US Ninth Army, stopping the German advance and sending them into reverse.

Monty’s final act was, on 4th May 1945, to take the German surrender at Lüneburg Heath in Northern Germany."

He is a pretty impressive figure and well worth including in your collection as a diorama figure if not an actual part of your army.

Allied Support

As well as Monty you can also get yourself some new Support Groups for the Allied forces, be they American or British. We start with the Commando Support Group.

British Commandos Support Group - Bolt Action

The Commandos weren't just British soldiers and in some cases included soldiers from France, Greece and The Netherlands too. They were fighting behind enemy lines most of the time but could still get access to an array of different weapons.

Sticking with the British we also have the British Airborne Support Group which would have been part of that initial invasion force that struck from the air.

Once again the set gives you a couple of cool officers as well as special weapons which might help turn the tide of battle.

The US Airborne Support Group is also here with a range of different characters. I like that even though each of the sets come with similar weapons we're getting a lot of different poses to play around with.

US Airborne Support Group - Bolt Action

Last but not least we have the US Army Support Group which will most likely have fought up from the beaches of Normandy to do battle with the Axis forces inland.

Armed to the teeth, the Americans were a force to be reckoned with during World War II and despite many a joke, their help managed to swing the war effort in the Allies favour.
