Become The Saviour Of Shadow Deep With New Miniatures
May 31, 2019 by cassn
North Star Military Figures have released the first miniatures for use in the Rangers of Shadow Deep adventure game. In Rangers of Shadow Deep, the realm of Shadow Deep finds itself opening up into oblivion. A tide of evil creatures spills forth from ominous clouds, as the land begins to swallow itself. Only the rangers - the Kingdom's greatest soldiers - have the skill and the tenacity to gather information, rescue prisoners, and ambush the enemy.
North Star have really embraced the ethos of this darkened world in their miniature sculpts. I love the detail on the cloaks and, although the miniatures are supplied unpainted, I think the colour scheme they've chosen to show off the product is perfect for a dark, dystopian world.
I particularly like the dynamic posing on the character with the covered face - there's a sense of urgency as the cloak is swept back and they rapidly reach for their sword against a dangerous foe.
However, would a sword be enough against a swarm of giant, buzzing flies who surround our rangers from above? Hopefully, the archer is an excellent shot because otherwise fighting a flying foe can be an incredibly difficult task.
Rangers of Shadow Deep is a tabletop game with a really interesting dystopian presence, and I think North Star has demonstrated a great understanding of that concept with these miniatures. You can check them out in greater detail here.

I’m really liking North Star at the moment, especially as I am in the process of a scale swap from heroic scale to 28mm “true” scale for all my fantasy RPG miniatures as this really opens up more avenues and reduces cost significantly. North Star are one of my goto places for miniatures now and the Shadowdeep stuff is really carrying on that tradition. I also think Kev Dallimore gives them a fantastoc style with his painting.
North Star is the email newsletter I most look forward to these days. They’re making me very happy.
Pretty sure North Star showed previews of 2 new figures for RoSD on their Facebook the other day. I don’t use Facebook much but always give North Star a check for previews and what bargains they have put up.
I don’t use Facebook at all (nor Twitter or Insta for minis news). I rely on here and weekly emails to get my news. It’s enough to make sure my debit card never goes cold.
A good scout is always a advantage tracking .
I ordered all of these .. can’t wait ’til they arrive. .. er.. also saves me from trying to use real flies. Also, just a note.. I think Other game systems have also jumped on board for the flies. Relic blade creator made a card for these flies. Win-win for gamers. Good job NS.
Those Rangers do look good and those flies are also good.
