Fury & Hit The Beach Previews Pop Up For Flames Of War

As the Boot Camp and D-Day approaches, we get a look at two of the Starter Sets which are landing for Flames Of War. Battlefront Miniatures have worked on a smaller and larger set starting with Fury.
Fury drops you right into the middle of tank combat during World War II and gives you a quick and easy entry point for Flames Of War with both German and American options.
The box offers up a cool scenario featuring two Shermans, an M10, Tiger and StuG. So, you have a nice array of different options right out of the box.
You will also find the rules, a cut-down scenario book which helps you play out fights between these tanks and also the unit cards for each so there's very little rulebook checking during gameplay.

How does Fury stack up against Tanks skirmish game? Is it a more ‘realistic’ tank only version of FoW? Does it stand alone or is it just an into to the full game?

it’s just FoW without infantry. Tanks are easy to play than inf in FoW with less oddball scenarios so tank only starters make entry easier. The Rulebook is the standard FoW book.
Tanks is a super stripped down version of FoW meant to be played on a 24″ x 24″ board
@avernos it’s a bit more Battletech than FOW , FOW generally a successful penetrating hit is a kill in Tanks you have to be very lucky to get a knockout with one hit, though it can be done.
That’s quite a lot of gaming goodness in the box. Definitely getting your money’s worth out of that box.

I’m sure you have. It was just a general comment if anyone was interested. I guess rules wise the important bit would be converted tanks don’t show there belly armour when moving across bocage
yush but it’s not a guaranteed crossing and bocage stops everything dead and if a tank gets bowed up by them they get shot in their lovely soft underbelly
Ambush was common at times but the time saved would have compensated any vehicles lost in the attacks?
it took 2 months to get out of bocage country. So time saved… yeah sure whatever
And then only just. I read I think it was of the American airborne units went a complete personal refit 3 times before it left Normandy due to death and injury
Perhaps but did they gain or lose lives/time fighting through the bocage with the hedgecutter! has their been any studies?
Well looking at this footage, it took a while (and a few run ups), well at least in an M5 Stuart (not sure if a heavier M4 Sherman did the job better).

For some reason only thought we were getting 5 Sherman’s in bc but 8 a bonus. On @torros comment on Hedgecutter, watched doc on them using a reconstructed hedge cutter, but and this was a big but on a UK field hedge, not the one in Normandy,though intrestingly it did say the Yanks advanced much more quickly once they were introduced. Looking at the just @avernos resin ones and Lloyd’s scratchbuilt is not just the belly up crossing problem but the fact they are too thick for supporting tanks in troop to be able to provide cover fire.
